While You Wait...He Works
“When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.”
- Revelation 8:1
- Revelation 8:1
Yesterday, we talked about how sometimes, when we go through storms in life, God gets quiet. In the times when it feels like we need God the most, He appears to not be there. You turn to Him and want him to speak immediately, and yet He seems silent. We say, “God I’m listening; just speak to me, I’m listening!” or we read the Word and say, “God show me what you want me to see as I read this Scripture.”
But there are times even when we are most committed to prayer and Scripture reading that God does not speak clearly, at least not initially. But make no mistake about it; while you are waiting... God is working. That is right, you might think He isn’t listening, but the fact of the matter is, He is way ahead of you. He not only knows what you are asking, but He is already working everything out.
This does not mean He is going to do everything exactly as you ask Him. We know through Scripture that His ways are not our ways. His are higher. But we also know from Scripture that God works everything out for the good of those who love Him. And He will keep that promise in your life.
The reality is, you are probably in a storm, coming out of a storm, or will be going into a storm in the future. There is no way around it. Even the strongest of believers go through the storms of life. Unfortunately, they are unavoidable. But when we do walk through a storm, we can know that God is working things in our favor. That truth is something we can always count on.
So whether you are in a storm right now, or you are on the verge of one (though you might not know it), remember, just because you don’t hear from God right away doesn’t mean He is absent in your situation. When God is quiet, He is up to something. As long as you are obedient, it will be in your favor. Keep waiting, and watch Him work!

Sleep In The Storm - Unspoken
Thank you Pastor Ed
I need to learn more about the seals I think. And waiting is probably not my best skill. What I can do is think about all the wonderful things God has already done. About the joy I have been able experience. Being given life. His great mercy he has shown me. His patience with me. My two beautiful children. My loving wife. The fact that he even revealed Himself to me in the first place. Whatever He is doing and even if He never does anything again is something I should be eternally grateful for. He never had to do anything for me at all. Thank you Pastor Ed. Everything is going to be ok.
