Faith Over Feelings

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick, who can understand it?" – Jeremiah 17:9

So many people live their lives completely controlled by their feelings. Every decision, reaction, and even their identity is shaped by how they feel in the moment. The problem is, our feelings are unstable, unreliable, and often flat-out wrong. They’re not meant to be the compass guiding our lives.

Scripture makes it clear. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick, who can understand it?” Your emotions are real, but they are not always right. They can lie to you, leading you into decisions and behaviors that go against God’s truth and His best for your life.

The world will tell you to follow your heart, trust your gut, and live by your truth. But if your feelings are your guide, you’ll always be tossed around by whatever circumstance you face. One moment you’re happy and confident, and the next you’re overwhelmed by insecurity and doubt. That’s why feelings can’t be your foundation. God must be.

If you want to walk in the life God has for you, you have to make a decision. Either your feelings are on the throne of your life, or Jesus is. It’s that simple. Your feelings can’t save you, they can’t heal you, and they can’t bring you real peace. Only God can do that.

Instead of letting your emotions drive your life, choose to surrender them to God. Let Him be the One who shapes your thoughts, attitudes, and actions. Make a choice to believe His Word over how you feel. And when your feelings try to take control, remind yourself of what’s true.

God is God. He is bigger than your emotions, and His truth stands strong no matter how you feel. Live by faith, not by feelings, and you’ll discover a life that’s built on something real and unshakable.

I needed this this morning Pastor Ed. Thank you. Mentally I understand this but here I am. I have had fear seeping into my life the past week and it’s been getting pretty heavy. It started taking me away from being present every day in the life with my family and others. I’ve made progress by not taking action with misaligned bahaviors but obstinance can also be damaging in itself. Heading out to work down in Laredo for a couple weeks this morning and that’s where fear can really do some damage if I don’t stay close to God. I love you guys and thank you again.
