Blessed Through the Breaking

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you." - 1 Peter 5:6

We all want the blessing. We pray for it, chase after it, and believe for it. But what we often miss is that God is not just interested in giving you a blessing. He is interested in making sure you are ready for it.

Sometimes God brings something into your life, not just to give you a breakthrough, but to do something deeper within you. He is shaping you, refining you, and building the character you need to carry the weight of what is coming next. You may feel stuck in a season of breaking down, but do not miss this: He is preparing you for the blessing He knows is on its way.

Here’s the truth that hits hard: if God gives you the blessing before He breaks you and builds you, that very blessing could crush you. You would not have the strength, the humility, or the wisdom to handle it well. In fact, without the breaking, the blessing might even turn your heart away from the One who gave it.

The breaking is not punishment, it is preparation. God knows exactly what He is doing. He is not withholding from you out of spite or delay. He is making sure that when the blessing comes, you can walk in it with confidence, maturity, and a heart that stays fixed on Him.

We say we want more, but are we willing to let God do the deep work required to handle more? The breaking seasons test your faith, strip away pride, and sharpen your dependence on Him. And when the blessing finally arrives, you will be able to steward it well, because you will know it was never about your own strength or your own merit. It was all about His goodness and His grace.

If you feel like you are in a season of being broken down, hold on. Trust that God is doing something bigger than you can see. He is not just preparing the blessing for you. He is preparing you for the blessing. And when it comes, you will be ready, not just to receive it, but to reflect His glory through it.

I do wish there was another way to get my attention sometimes but if I had to choose between growing and running I still would rather grow. Trusting God means that I have to accept the seemingly bad things just as much as I accept the seemingly good things. Usually those “bad”’things end up holding the most significant blessings. I used to pray to win the lottery a lot. Lots of money you know. No amount of money compares to having your kids open up and start getting better again. Nothing compares to turning a house into a home. Having a heart that truly cares for others. Life. Not survival.

So, so true. Like Pastor's message Sunday. A person strive to get to the top and find that it is lonely.
