It’s Not About the Circumstances

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord." - Isaiah 55:8

We like stories that make sense. We love a good movie plot where everything builds in a straight line. Where each step forward leads predictably to the big moment of victory. But if you have walked with God for any length of time, you know that His way of working rarely looks like that.

You might look at your life right now and think, there’s no way this is leading anywhere good. My circumstances don’t look anything like what God promised me. Maybe you feel stuck in a job that seems far from your calling. Maybe your relationships are strained, your finances are tight, or your dreams feel like they are on life support. It is tempting to believe that if your circumstances are off track, then God must be off track, too.

But God’s blessings are not limited by your current situation. He is not bound by the timeline you see or the logic you think makes sense. What looks like a dead end to you is still wide open to Him. He is the God who flips the script in an instant, who takes people from prison to palace, from overlooked to overcomer, from barren to fruitful. His power is not slowed down or hindered by what your life looks like right now.

Do not let your current circumstances be your gauge for what God is doing. His process is not linear. His path for you does not have to follow human logic or your own expectations. Sometimes, the very place you feel stuck is where He is setting you up for a breakthrough. And when it happens, it will not be because everything looked “just right.” It will be because God showed up and did what only He can do.

I want to challenge you to resist the urge to measure God’s faithfulness by what you see in the moment. Trust that He is working behind the scenes, orchestrating things in ways you cannot imagine. Your circumstances are temporary, but His promises are unshakable. Keep your eyes on Him, not on the obstacles, and be ready because when He moves, everything can change in an instant.

“I’m proof of what holding on can do” wow. You aren’t lying Pastor Ed. I’ll never forget those days and what happened when God came through. It’s easy to forget my mission with all of life’s distractions. And my mission does include more than one thing. But you reminded me of my primary mission. Thank you
