Where’s Your Trust?

"Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine." - Proverbs 3:9-10

Let’s get honest for a second. It is easy to say we trust God. We trust Him with our health. We trust Him with our relationships. We trust Him with our future. But when it comes to money? That is where a lot of us hesitate. Suddenly, we start acting like we need to keep full control, as if God can handle everything except our bank account.

But if you say you trust God, that trust has to extend to every part of your life. Including your finances. The Bible is clear that honoring God with your money is not just a good idea—it is a command. It is a way of showing that your faith is real and that you truly believe He is your provider.

We love to pray for blessings, for breakthroughs, for increase. But why would God pour out greater blessings if we are not being faithful with what He has already given us? Jesus said it best: “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much.” (Luke 16:10) If we cannot trust Him with the money in our hands now, how can we expect Him to trust us with more?

It is not about the amount you have. It is about the posture of your heart. Tithing, giving generously, and living open-handed are all ways of proving your faith. Not to earn God’s favor, but to demonstrate that you believe what He says is true. And His promise is clear: when you honor Him first, He provides.

So here’s the challenge: trust God in every area of your life. Don’t hold back when it comes to your finances. Take a hard look at your heart. Do you really believe He is your provider, your source, and your sustainer? If you do, your giving will reflect that.

God is not after your money. He is after your heart. But He knows that money is often the last thing we fully surrender. When you step out in faith and trust Him in this area, you open the door for Him to move in powerful ways. Prove your faith where it matters and watch how God proves His faithfulness right back.

I think there must be patterns of growth with this one too. I have seen time and time again that God will always provide for me financially. First it was a demonstration of a man with a coin from his pocket. Then it was with obeying His word with the verse you mentioned above. And here we are years later I find myself even as I am being tight hearing Him tell me that everything is going to work out right on time. That there is nothing to worry about. My goal is to get back to complete reliance in every moment on His direction. That is where the diamonds truly are. Forget the money, all the material blessings entirely. With that came Heaven on earth and pure love. Thank you for all this and thank God for making these circumstances to remind me of how to get there. He is near us right now.
