Right Where You Need to Be

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” – Proverbs 16:9

You are not where you are by accident. You may not fully understand why you are here, how long this season will last, or where it’s leading, but none of that means God has lost track of you. You are where you are for a reason.

Sometimes we believe the lie that if things aren’t ideal, then they must be off course. But God doesn’t operate on ideal. He operates on intentional. Even when life feels random, God is deliberate. When the season feels frustrating, God is still forming something in you. This moment in your life, this location, this job, this trial, this opportunity, whatever it is, God knows you are in it, and He is working through it.

You might be in a waiting season. You might be in a stretch that feels like a setback. You might be in a space where it feels like nothing is moving forward. But what if the very thing you are trying to get out of is the ground God is using to grow you? What if the delay is part of the development? What if your obedience right here is preparing you for the breakthrough ahead?

There is no such thing as wasted time when you are walking with God. He is the one who orders your steps. He is the one who knows the full picture. So instead of asking, “Why am I still here?” start asking, “What do you want to do in me while I am here?” Because the answer to that question could shift your perspective entirely.

You are where you are for a reason. You’re not forgotten. You’re not stuck. You’re not behind. You’re in a place God has allowed for a purpose. So be faithful here. Be present here. Be obedient here. Because sometimes the only way to get to what’s next is by fully embracing where you are right now.

I was working at a large call center years back and at the time I couldn’t believe I even got the entry level position. My dad had told me the secret to getting ahead. He said most people try to play positions other than their own. Trying to take on the supervisor role kind of deal. He said you have to make your boss look good instead of trying to look good yourself. Don’t make your boss nervous thinking you’re trying to take his job lol. And I actually listened that time. I had never been promoted in my whole life and sure enough I got promoted 3 times there. Almost all the way up. Right under director. They even flew me around the world. My first instinct still wants to look towards the future but God talked about doing good with very little and then He will give me much more. One little action at a time I choose to make it all about my service to Him. Right where I am at.
