Faith Means Trusting When It Doesn’t Make Sense

"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going" - Hebrews 11:8

Faith is easy to talk about when everything makes sense. When the path is clear and the next step feels safe, it does not take much to keep going. But real faith shows up when the answers are unclear and the direction feels uncomfortable. That is when trust becomes more than a word.

Abraham didn’t have the details. He didn’t know where God was taking him or how it would all play out. All he had was the voice of God and a command to go. He obeyed anyway. That is what faith looks like. Obedience without a full explanation. Surrender without all the steps mapped out. That is where God does His deepest work.

Sometimes God will lead you into something that does not make sense. It might look like a risk to others. It might look foolish to you. But when God speaks, faith listens. And faith moves. Not because the plan is perfect, but because the One giving the command is trustworthy.

If you find yourself in a place right now where you feel unsure, where the future is foggy, and you do not know what God is doing, that does not mean you are in the wrong place. It might mean you are right where God wants you. He may not reveal the full picture, but He will not leave you alone in the process.

Faith is not about understanding everything. It is about trusting the One who does. Keep walking. Even when it doesn’t make sense. Especially when it doesn’t make sense. That is the kind of faith that moves mountains.

Good Morning, this is exactly what I needed this morning. God is always faithful, no matter what! Trusting without knowing His plan for me has kept me in a place of peace. I know He only has the best for me.

Amen Pastor Ed. Crazy faith. Gonna have to practice this today with our new neighbors. Fear brings so many problems that never existed. Before I act I really need to take a hard look at where my motives are. Not always an easy thing to do. This helps me remember that the same faith that raised Jesus from the dead is the same faith that lives inside of me. It’s not my faith that moves the mountains but His faith working in me demonstrating His character 24/7. This is where I need to take a breath today. I have this thing where a pattern of behavior and thoughts jump in. It’s the old self coming up. But God tells me to put on the new self and trust in Him. That means I have to put forth love towards me neighbors. Understanding. Compassion. Forgiveness. It means I have to give our grace in the face of attack. It means I have to help my enemies as if they had never done anything or ever had any ill will towards me at all. Crazy faith means crazy action. Love yall

These devotions are so amazing and are always right on time. On most days I share them with at least 20 or more friends of mine. One day a few years back, I shared one out of the blue with a guy I met at the VA. He had Covid and was in a coma for 6 months. He had lost a lot of memory. He was a pastor from Connecticut, disabled vet. He lives here in San Antonio. I shared a devotional with him one day a few hours later he messaged me. He told me that devotional saved his life. He was checking himself into the VA and they was going to take his phone and he would let me know his situation in a week or so. He contacted me a few weeks later and told me he was doing amazing. You never know what impact you will have on someone when God urges you to move you do it. These devotionals are always on time. Like that gospel song. “He’s a onetime God”.

I needed to hear this today! I tell my daughter and son in law who have been on a journey of faith while trying to have a baby, that God knows what the future holds and that they have to trust the process .
