God Meets You Right Where You Are

"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" - Romans 5:8

It is easy to believe that God only wants the cleaned-up version of you. The one who has figured things out. The one who has it all together. But the truth is, God meets you right where you are. Not where you wish you were. Not where other people think you should be. Right here, right now.

You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, ashamed, or unqualified. But none of that disqualifies you from the love of God. In fact, that is where His love shines brightest. God does not ask you to climb your way up to Him. He came down to you. He does not wait for perfection. He steps into the mess and calls you forward.

Think about the people Jesus called. They were fishermen, tax collectors, outcasts. He did not wait until they were holy to invite them into purpose. He called them in the middle of their real lives. And He is still doing that today.

Wherever you are spiritually, emotionally, or mentally, you are not too far gone. You do not have to pretend. You do not have to earn your way into God’s favor. You just have to respond. He is standing at your door, knocking, waiting for you to let Him in.

Stop believing the lie that you have to get it together before you come to God. He wants the real you. The hurting you. The doubting you. The exhausted you. That is who He loves. That is who He saves. That is who He uses.

Your starting point does not limit God’s plans. He starts with broken people, in broken places, and does beautiful things. If you will let Him meet you where you are, He will not leave you there. He will lead you forward into something greater.

Thank you Pastor Ed. Having been there I know first hand how big of a deal it is to hear those words you wrote here today for a lot of people. Also it applies for me today as well. That’s one of the things that been getting shown to me in this season. It’s not just for the people on the bottom not finding any worth in themselves. It’s also for me right here, right now. I don’t know where I would be without this and others like it here for me to read and engage with every day. In the past I would start well and not hesitate to reach out earnestly to God for help. Later I would feel like He’s already done enough scraping me off the sidewalk and saving my life. But it’s here where I need Him. On my feet with a really good life for sometime now. It’s not just a few ritual words I say on my knees to check a box. My circumstances may look different on the outside and on the inside even too but in order to continue on this walk with Him I need Him now just as much if not more than I did then. Because it’s never looked like this before. I’ve never been here before either. It’s not just smooth sailing or all down hill from here. There’s no autopilot. Thank you so much for serving God like this sir. For helping me learn this.

I thank God with all my heart for finding me right in the middle of my mess back in 2008. My marriage had completely fallen apart — it was in ashes after our divorce, after 8–9 years together. I was broken, lost, and didn’t know where to turn.

n

nBut that’s when God stepped in. Through that painful season, He reached out to me and saved me. He not only restored my heart — He restored my marriage. My wife and I got back together, and we witnessed one of the most beautiful miracles of our lives. God even used me to bring my wife and my whole family to the feet of Jesus.

n

nGod truly works in the most amazing ways. Even when we think it’s over, He’s just getting started. All we have to do is open the door of our hearts and let Him in.

n

nThank you, Lord Jesus, for Your mercy, Your love, and Your faithfulness!

n

nAnd thank you, Pastor Ed, for helping me remember the greatest and most life-changing thing that has ever happened to me. God truly takes broken people like me and turns them into something beautiful — a masterpiece of His grace.

Pastor Ed, my husband and I are so thankful that we have a church family that we truly appreciate everything You and your wife do. Even though we don’t know you and her, we love you all. We have been baptized there and I tell you it has truly been a blessing and amazing experience what The Lord is doing for us despite the storms we’ve experienced. What He has done and what yet is to come, those blessings from Him are Wow Wow Wow He is Just beyond so wonderful to us?? If God is for us, who can be against us. Romans 8:31 my husband did not grow up in the church, but he has beautiful testimonies that he NOW knows God is whom he has been hungry for ?? Numbers 6:24-26

nThe Lord bless you and keep you: the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
