A Moment Missed

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” - Ephesians 5:15-16

Opportunities to encounter God rarely come wrapped in the ways we expect. They often arrive quietly, disguised as interruptions or inconveniences. The problem is that most of us are too busy to notice. Our schedules are packed, our minds are distracted, and our hearts are preoccupied. We pray for God to move, yet when He does, we are often too consumed with our own plans to recognize His presence right in front of us.

Busyness can make us blind. When our days are filled with constant motion, we start to miss the subtle ways God is speaking, leading, and inviting us closer. Familiarity does the same thing. We can become so used to hearing about God that we stop listening for Him. We attend church, read Scripture, or pray out of habit, but our hearts are somewhere else. The danger is not that we reject God’s presence, but that we overlook it.

Every day brings moments that hold eternal weight. A conversation that could encourage someone. A nudge in your spirit to pray for a friend. A decision that could change the direction of your life. If we are not careful, we can rush through these divine opportunities and miss what God wanted to do through us. His presence is often quiet, but it is never absent.

You may not realize it, but God could be standing at the door of your day waiting to be welcomed in. He may be calling you to slow down long enough to see the people in front of you or to hear the prompting in your heart. Do not let busyness or familiarity cause you to miss Him. Divine moments are rarely convenient, but they are always significant. Today, live aware. Look for the quiet knock of God’s presence in the ordinary places, and when it comes, make room.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of welcoming God into our lives through faith, obedience, and a personal relationship with Him. Key verses include:

nRevelation 3:20: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me." This illustrates God's desire to be invited into our hearts.

nJohn 1:12: "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." This highlights that welcoming God involves belief and acceptance.

nJames 4:8: "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." This encourages actively seeking God through prayer, worship, and righteous living.

n

nWelcoming God means opening our hearts, trusting in His guidance, and aligning our lives with His will.

Whenever I listen to a sermon, a class, a speaker, whenever I read a book or a devotional, I always look for the "takeaways". I call them STICKIES. Whenever I teach a class I'm acutely aware of how many of my points are stickies (at least in my opinion). In fact, I always put a pad of stickies on each table and encourage the women to USE them. These are the takeaways. They are important enough that I want to stick them on my mirror or wherever they will stick to remind me of a profound truth. In today's devotional, I think almost every sentence of Pastor Ed's message is worthy of being a STICKY!!! I've always known what a spirit-filled pastor he is but until this Daily Devo and his newest book, I had no idea how his spiritual giftedness in writing would use up so many of my sticky pads!! We are soooo blessed to be under his teaching. Thank You, LORD. Thank you, Pastor Ed!

Bottom l I ne is to always be ready fir anything that the Lord may place in your path. That's why Soul Winning is so important. To share the gospel be it at a gas station or a store . Homeless person may need something to eat. They to need salvation I have been Blessed in opportunities that the Lord has given me. To lead the Homeless to Christ plus give them food or money to get something to eat. Always be ready.
