God Uses What You Don’t Understand

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” - Proverbs 19:21

When Caesar Augustus issued a decree that forced everyone to return to their hometown for a census, it looked like another display of human power. He wanted control, recognition, and authority. What he did not know was that God was using his decision to fulfill a prophecy that had been spoken centuries before. Every command, every mile traveled, and every inconvenience was leading to the exact place where Jesus would be born. What looked like control from a ruler was really coordination from heaven.

The same is true in your life. There will be moments when it feels like other people are steering your story. A boss makes a choice that affects your future. A system seems unfair. A situation unfolds that you cannot control or understand. You may look around and wonder where God is in all of it. But what feels like someone else’s power is still subject to God’s authority. He never stops guiding the story.

God can use the decisions of others, even the difficult ones, to move you toward His purpose. He can work through leaders, companies, and circumstances that seem completely disconnected from faith. Nothing is outside His reach. What feels like disappointment may actually be direction. What seems unfair may be the very thing He uses to place you where you need to be.

You do not have to understand how God is working to trust that He is. His plans are bigger than the ones made by people. His authority is greater than any system. He is still sovereign, still good, and still writing every line with purpose.

So when life feels out of your control, remember this truth. Even when it looks like people or systems are in charge, God’s hand is steering every outcome. You can rest knowing that He is using what you do not understand to lead you where you are meant to be.

This message is so true. Let go and let God be in charge of my life. One of the challenging truths of life. And it is a challenge to prayer to learn His will. Amen.

Thank you Pastor Ed! I trust in the Lord. I have a choice. I can either go along with Him willingly or i can be useful in some other way but I will be serving God. An old friend who passed used to say all the time “I have two kinds of teachers. Ones that teach me what to do, and ones that teach me what NOT to do.” I wanna be the example of what happens when you follow the Lords direction. I’ve been on the other side and it’s not nearly as fun. Lol
