No Place Too Messy

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?” - Psalm 139:7

There is a moment in Scripture when Jesus meets a man that everyone else had already given up on. This man lived among tombs, isolated from his community, controlled by darkness, and trapped in a life no one knew how to fix. People tried to restrain him, avoid him, or ignore him, but no one tried to reach him. His situation was messy, broken, and frightening. Yet Jesus walked straight toward him. He did not hesitate. He did not flinch. He stepped into the very place everyone else stepped away from, and one encounter changed everything.

That story is a picture of how God moves toward us today. He does not wait for you to clean yourself up before He draws near. He does not need your life to be polished or presentable. He is not intimidated by your past, your battles, or the thoughts you wish no one knew. God walks into the parts of your life that feel chaotic, embarrassing, or out of control, and He brings healing where you thought healing was impossible.

Many people believe they must fix themselves before God will accept them, but the opposite is true. God meets you in the middle of your mess. He steps into your anxiety, your hidden struggles, your mistakes, and your confusion. He does not stand at a distance waiting for improvement. He moves toward you because He loves you. There is no place so dark that His light cannot reach it, and no heart so damaged that His grace cannot restore it.

Maybe you feel like your life is too complicated or too broken for God to care. Maybe you carry shame that keeps you quiet or fear that keeps you distant. Hear this clearly. God is not afraid of your mess. He is not disappointed that you need help. He draws near to the places you try to hide because those are the places He wants to redeem.

No matter where you are, Jesus is willing to meet you there. Your story is not too ruined, and your heart is not too far gone. There is no place too messy for God to enter and transform. If you will open the door, He will bring healing, hope, and restoration in ways you never imagined possible.

I am having one of the biggest storms of my life right now. But everyday He still leads me to what I need in his Word, brings me to my knees to worship and talk with Him. He brings me hope to make it through yet, another storm.

I'm interceding for you, Lacy, though you may never see my message. I'm certain there's many of us who read these devotionals daily - along with the Comments. I ask the Lord to show me comments where someone is being very vulnerable and real and needs that extra spiritual dose of strength through the storm. You may have noticed there's a search bar within this platform. If you search for the word "storm" all Pastor Ed's Devos with that word will appear (just the first few lines and you can click for the full devo). Just scanning through those changes our perspective as we start to see that God is always in the storm with us and it is never without purpose.

Pastor Ed, I don’t know how you do it… except that you allow the Holy Spirit to use you in mighty ways. That you prepare these amazing daily devotions that are so filled with spiritual truths and encouragement for those who struggle (and that includes everyone, because we live in a fallen world and constantly are challenged to focus on a million things instead of our precious Lord). Then you deliver impactful sermons five times each week. From what I can see there is no teleprompter, no notes, not even a cheat sheet in sight… just you and the Holy Spirit working through you. I never cease being amazed by that! Don’t ever doubt your calling. God works miracles through you every day! Thank you for allowing Him to do just that.

Through these storms I have endured and those to come, my only hope is that Christ is with me and those I love. Thank you Jesus

I've had my share of storms. As I look back in the 20 plus years of walking away from God. I finally came back to him as a prodigal, son. Thinking that God would not forgive me for my sins that I had committed. It all came down to me giving myself up to God. Running away from God was not gonna help me. I went through somethings that I'm glad I'm still alive. I re- ededicated myself to God I stopped running came back where I use to be at in 1983 when I first got saved. My world now is so much better again I can see the light. I see my Lord Jesus more then ever now that have come home to the Lord.
