Your Journey, Your Calling

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10

It’s easy to look around and wonder, “Why isn’t my life unfolding like theirs?” You hear stories of how God opened doors for someone, how He used their gifts, how quickly they reached the next chapter, and you start to compare. Without meaning to, you begin measuring your progress, your purpose, and even your worth against someone else’s journey.

But here’s the truth you need to hold onto today: God never called you to live someone else’s story. He called you to live yours.

Ephesians reminds us that we are God’s workmanship, His masterpiece, uniquely created and shaped for good works that He has prepared for us. That means your timeline, your path, your breakthrough, and your mission are designed specifically for you. God doesn’t run a one-size-fits-all plan.

The way He leads someone else may not be the way He leads you. The pace He sets for them may not be the pace He sets for you. And that’s not a sign that you’re falling behind, it’s a sign that you are on a path that’s been handcrafted for your heart, your growth, and His purpose in your life.

Comparison is a thief. It will rob you of joy, peace, and focus. But when you fix your eyes on Jesus and trust that He knows exactly what He’s doing in you, you can walk with confidence even when your path doesn’t look like anyone else’s.

Stay the course. Don’t get discouraged when your journey feels slower, quieter, or less visible. God is working in you, shaping you, and preparing you for things that no one else is called to carry. His plan for you is good, and it’s perfectly tailored to who you are.

Trust Him with your timeline. Trust Him with your story. And remember, when you stay faithful to the path God has set before you, you will walk into a life of purpose that is uniquely and beautifully yours.

Amen. It’s astonishing how well God uses so much of our lives to foretell not only His nature but also His plans. I remember a guy named Larry from about 20 years ago. He was this cool old man that I thought was an avid golfer. He always wore a hat that said Taylor Made. In fact that was his nickname. I was unemployed a few years ago and even though God was taking really good care of me I was trying to find a job. Talking with another buddy of mine about something completely different he starts telling me a story of a friend of his loving the game of darts. He actually went on to be a professional dart player of all things and got paid really well to just do what he loved. I’m not sure at all of what God has in store for me. I’ve just been doing what’s right in front of me. I have had no shortage of amazement and awe. Change used to be so scary. Right now there’s big change going on in my life but for some reason all I can see is that God is up to something. And so i trust Him. Thank you Pastor Ed. I know God is leading you so that you can lead us. I’m sure we all are together on those prayers.
