God Didn’t Call You to Be Broke

"You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day." - Deuteronomy 8:18

Somewhere along the way, the idea crept in that following Jesus means settling for less. That you should struggle financially in order to be more spiritual. That being broke somehow proves your humility or your faith. But the truth is, God never called you to live in lack. He didn’t create you to survive with just enough. He designed you with gifts, talents, creativity, and the ability to work hard, solve problems, and bring value into the world. And He has no problem blessing you for it.

Being a believer does not mean you have to choose between your faith and your finances. You can love God fully and still make a great living. In fact, God often positions His people in places of influence, opportunity, and provision so that they can carry His name further and bless others through their overflow. He is the one who gives you the ability to produce. He is not opposed to you succeeding. He is opposed to you forgetting where it came from.

There is nothing noble about laziness. There is no badge of honor in ignoring opportunities that God has placed in front of you. If you are a business owner, work with excellence. If you are an employee, go above and beyond. If you are building something new, give it everything you’ve got. What you are doing is not separate from your faith. It is a reflection of your stewardship. God’s work and your work are not enemies. They’re deeply connected.

Don't use faith as an excuse to stay stagnant. Do not hide behind spiritual talk when what is really needed is spiritual discipline. God is not calling you to be broke. He is calling you to be faithful. And when you walk in that, when you give your best and honor Him with all that you do, He can bless it. He can multiply it. And He can use it to do far more than you could ever do on your own.

Finally back out on the road today. Now I’m stuck in the middle of a 20 mile lease road waiting for the roads to dry to I can make it all the way in. Been a month of down time and yes I’ll miss 4th of July but whatever it takes.
