It Is Finished, But He’s Not Done

“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished. And he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” - John 19:30

When Jesus spoke the words “It is finished,” He was not announcing defeat. He was declaring victory. The work needed to save you, forgive you, and reconcile you to God was fully completed in that moment. Nothing needed to be added. Nothing needed to be improved. Nothing needed to be corrected. Your salvation was paid for in full by a Savior who held nothing back.

But even though the work of salvation is finished, Jesus is not done working in your life. The cross secured your forgiveness, yet the rest of your days are filled with His ongoing grace. He continues shaping you, strengthening you, and transforming you from the inside out. The same Jesus who gave His life for you is now guiding your steps, healing your wounds, and renewing your heart one day at a time.

Sometimes you may feel stuck, discouraged, or unsure of what God is doing. You look at your life and wonder if you are growing fast enough or changing enough. You question whether God is still working because progress seems slow. But the truth is that He is not finished with you. The cross proves His love, but your life continues to show His power. Every moment of conviction, every spark of hope, every step of obedience is evidence that the risen Savior is still active in you.

Your failures do not change His finished work. Your struggles do not cancel His grace. Your doubts do not push Him away. He began a good work in you, and Scripture promises that He will carry it to completion. The God who saved you is the same God who leads you forward, even on the days when you cannot see the path clearly.

Take heart today. Jesus finished the work that mattered most, but He is not finished with you. He is still writing your story. He is still moving in your heart. He is still drawing you closer. The Savior who completed salvation is still changing lives today, including yours, one surrendered heart at a time.
