God Has a Brag Book, and You’re in It
“Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.” - 1 John 3:1
Every parent understands the pride that rises when talking about their children. They share stories, show pictures, and light up whenever someone asks about them. That kind of joy is not forced. It flows naturally because love overflows. The pastor once described his father carrying a brag book filled with photos of his kids, ready at any moment to tell the world about them. That simple image reveals something profound about the heart of God. He delights in His children, and if heaven had a brag book, your name would be inside.
Many believers struggle to imagine God feeling that way about them. You know your flaws, failures, and the moments you wish you could erase. The enemy uses those memories to whisper accusations, hoping you will see yourself through shame rather than grace. Yet Scripture tells a different story. Jesus stands before the Father declaring your worth, not your weakness. Your identity is not built on your mistakes. It is anchored in His love.
This truth becomes even clearer when you consider what Jesus accomplished for you. He did not redeem you reluctantly. He chose the cross because He wanted you close. He covered your sin so nothing could separate you from the Father. When God looks at your life, He sees someone bought with a price, sealed by the Spirit, and covered in righteousness. You may replay your past, but He celebrates your identity. You may focus on what is unfinished, but He sees who you are becoming.
Knowing this changes the way you approach God. Instead of coming to Him afraid or ashamed, you learn to come with confidence. You are not tolerated. You are treasured. You are not barely accepted. You are deeply loved. The Father delights in hearing your prayers, guiding your steps, and shaping your future.
If the enemy has been loud in your life, remember this. Heaven has a stronger voice. Jesus speaks on your behalf, and His declaration is final. You belong to God. You are loved by God. You bring joy to God. Nothing about your past or your present cancels what He has spoken over you.
So lift your head today. Your Father delights in you. His heart is full toward you. And every page of His brag book reflects grace, redemption, and the story He is still writing in your life.
