Living With Purpose

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

You are not a biological accident floating aimlessly on a rock through space, nor are you wandering through a random existence without meaning. You were created by a personal God who has a specific, good, and loving plan for your life. Your great adventure is not to invent a purpose for yourself but to discover the one He has already designed and to walk in it with confidence.

This well-loved verse was originally spoken to a nation in exile, people who felt hopeless, forgotten, and cut off from their destiny. God wanted them to know that He was still writing their story, even in a foreign land. The same truth applies to you today. God's plans for you are good, even when your current circumstances feel chaotic or painful. He sees the panoramic view of your entire life while you can only see the snapshot of this moment. He is orchestrating events, relationships, and opportunities to lead you toward a future filled with hope. This does not mean your life will be easy, but it does mean your life will always be meaningful. Trusting His plan requires patience, but you can rest assured that His track record is flawless.

There were years in my twenties when I felt like I was wandering in a professional wilderness. I had a college degree I was not using and was stuck in a job that I truly hated. I felt like I was wasting my potential and questioned if God had forgotten the dreams He had placed in my heart. Looking back now, I can see with perfect clarity how God was using those frustrating years to build grit, humility, and character in me. He was preparing me for the weight of the purpose I carry now. What felt like a waiting room was actually a classroom where I was being trained for my future.

Spend some dedicated time in prayer today, specifically asking God to reveal the next step in His plan for you. Do not become overwhelmed by trying to figure out the whole ten-year plan; simply ask for the courage to take the next step. Be willing and ready to move when He speaks.

Lord, I trust that You have good plans for my life, plans to give me a hope and a future. Help me to discover and fulfill the purpose You have uniquely designed for me. Grant me the patience to wait for Your perfect timing and the courage to obey Your leading without hesitation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
