When Hope Returns

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” - Jeremiah 29:11

Disappointment can steal your ability to dream. When life doesn't go according to plan, it's easy to lower your expectations and settle for survival instead of thriving. But God wants to restore your capacity to hope, to dream, and to believe that your best days are ahead of you.

Maybe you had dreams that were crushed by circumstances beyond your control. Maybe you made choices that derailed your plans. Maybe you've been hurt so deeply that dreaming feels dangerous. But God has not given up on you, and He hasn't changed His mind about your future.

The Israelites in Babylonian captivity had given up hope of ever returning home. They had hung up their harps and refused to sing the songs of Zion. But God sent them a message through Jeremiah that He still had plans for them, plans for good and not evil, to give them a future and a hope.

Your current circumstances are not your final destination. God is not finished writing your story. The dreams He placed in your heart are not accidents; they are glimpses of what He wants to do through your life. It's time to dust off those dreams and believe again.

Write down one dream or goal that you gave up on because of disappointment or fear. Ask God to show you if it's time to pursue it again or if He has something even better in mind.

Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I have allowed disappointment to steal my dreams and diminish my hope. Please restore my ability to believe that You have good plans for my future. Help me to trust You with my dreams and to step out in faith again. Give me a future and a hope. In Jesus' name, Amen.
