When Hope Returns
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” - Jeremiah 29:11
Disappointment can steal your ability to dream. When life doesn't go according to plan, it's easy to lower your expectations and settle for survival instead of thriving. But God wants to restore your capacity to hope, to dream, and to believe that your best days are ahead of you.
Maybe you had dreams that were crushed by circumstances beyond your control. Maybe you made choices that derailed your plans. Maybe you've been hurt so deeply that dreaming feels dangerous. But God has not given up on you, and He hasn't changed His mind about your future.
The Israelites in Babylonian captivity had given up hope of ever returning home. They had hung up their harps and refused to sing the songs of Zion. But God sent them a message through Jeremiah that He still had plans for them, plans for good and not evil, to give them a future and a hope.
Your current circumstances are not your final destination. God is not finished writing your story. The dreams He placed in your heart are not accidents; they are glimpses of what He wants to do through your life. It's time to dust off those dreams and believe again.
Write down one dream or goal that you gave up on because of disappointment or fear. Ask God to show you if it's time to pursue it again or if He has something even better in mind.
Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I have allowed disappointment to steal my dreams and diminish my hope. Please restore my ability to believe that You have good plans for my future. Help me to trust You with my dreams and to step out in faith again. Give me a future and a hope. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank you Pastor Ed. I have a friend who is really going through it. Completely self induced but they are doing the best they can with what they have. I wish I could transmit to them a message that would actually reach them. It’s hard to feed a mind that is already full. Honestly I am having a hard time dealing with things myself lately. So thank you for this. I need the reminders that I am still chosen, blessed, and accepted. God is still here with us and answers our prayers. He has given us all we need in order to succeed with the Holy Spirit but it doesn’t always seem like it. Sometimes I feel all alone and sometimes even helpless. But to remember how God has us in the palm of His hand forming and guiding, using all the things that happen for our good and saving us from the terrible fears that can try to take hold in our minds. Thank you Jesus for taking my place and intervening for us. For allowing us access to the Father and the gift of reconciliation. I don’t know how anything is gonna go anymore but atleast I know that He is gonna be taking good care of me and my loved ones.
A dream I have had? 2 things come to mind. I always had a dream of finishing college, but praying about it now, God showed me he has me in a career that I love and where I know he has placed me. The other thing is my last relationship. But my boyfriend never wanted to get remarried, so I broke it off because I know it is Gods Will that if I am to date it should result in marriage. It was a grave disappointment, but I think God is saying He has something else in mind for me.
Amen.
Amen amen
