Fear Is A Liar

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and sound mind.” - 2 Timothy 1:7

Fear is one of the enemy's most effective weapons because it feels so real and so reasonable. It whispers "what if" scenarios that paralyze you with anxiety about things that may never happen. It convinces you that the worst-case scenario is the most likely outcome. But fear is a liar, and it's time to stop believing its deception.

God has not given you a spirit of fear. That means when fear shows up at your door, it's not from Him. Fear comes from the enemy who wants to keep you trapped in a prison of anxiety and worry. But God has given you power, love, and a sound mind to overcome every fear that tries to control your life.

Power means you are not helpless against fear. You have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead living inside you. Love means you are not alone in your struggles. God's perfect love casts out fear. Sound mind means you don't have to believe every thought that pops into your head. You can take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.

I used to be controlled by the fear of failure. It kept me from taking risks, pursuing dreams, and stepping out in faith. But I learned that the fear of failure is actually the fear of what other people will think if I fail. When I realized that God's opinion of me doesn't change based on my performance, I was set free to try new things without the paralyzing fear of failure.

Identify the specific fear that has been controlling your decisions lately. Speak God's truth over that fear and take one step of faith in spite of it.

Prayer:
Father, I thank You that You have not given me a spirit of fear. Help me to recognize when fear is trying to control my thoughts and decisions. Fill me with Your power, love, and sound mind. I choose to trust You more than my fears. Give me courage to step out in faith. In Jesus' name, Amen.
