True Greatness

"But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.” - Mark 10:43–44

Freedom is not just about what you are free from; it's about what you are free for. You have been set free from sin and selfishness so that you can serve God and others with joy. True greatness in God's kingdom is measured not by how many people serve you, but by how many people you serve.

The world teaches us to climb the ladder of success by stepping on others. But Jesus turned that pyramid upside down. He said that if you want to be great, become a servant. If you want to be first, put others ahead of yourself. This is not weakness; this is the strength that comes from security in God's love.

When you know who you are in Christ, you don't have to prove your worth by dominating others. You can afford to be humble because your value doesn't come from your position but from your relationship with God. You can serve without feeling diminished because you know that God sees and rewards your faithfulness.

Jesus, who had all power and authority, chose to wash His disciples' feet. He served those who should have been serving Him. He demonstrated that true leadership is servant leadership and that the greatest among us are those who make others great.

Look for one opportunity today to serve someone without expecting anything in return. Choose to use your freedom to bless others rather than just yourself.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for showing me what true greatness looks like through Your example of service. Help me to use my freedom not for selfish purposes but to serve others. Give me a heart that finds joy in making others successful. In Your name, Amen.
