Generous Living
"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” - 2 Corinthians 9:8
Contentment and generosity are inseparably linked. When you are truly satisfied with what God has given you, you are free to give generously to others. But when you are constantly worried about having enough, you hold tightly to what you have and miss the joy of generous living.
Paul understood this connection. He knew that God's grace is not just sufficient for our needs but abundant for our generosity. When we trust God's provision, we can give without fear, serve without reservation, and love without limits. Our contentment becomes the foundation for our generosity.
Generous living is not just about money, though financial generosity is certainly part of it. It is about giving your time, attention, encouragement, and resources to bless others. It is about living with open hands instead of clenched fists, knowing that everything you have is a gift from God to be shared with others.
The most content people tend to also be the most generous. They understand that God has blessed them not just for their own benefit but so they can be a blessing to others. Their contentment frees them from the fear of lack and empowers them to give sacrificially.
Generosity is both a fruit of contentment and a pathway to deeper contentment. When you give generously, you experience the joy of being used by God to meet others' needs. You discover that it truly is more blessed to give than to receive, and your contentment grows as you participate in God's work in the world.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your abundant grace that is sufficient for all my needs. Help me to live generously, knowing that You are my provider and that everything I have comes from Your hand. Free me from the fear of lack so I can give freely to others. Let my contentment overflow in generous living. In Jesus' name, Amen.

This is usually where everyone gets quiet when we start talking about money. It’s an experience for sure. Read the Bible, do what it says. Emmitt. Makes sense and I played it out myself. I have discovered that there is a balance there. Spiritual pride is a very real danger and playing the super hero can be just as bad as being Scrooge. Spending money I don’t have, or not giving at all. But just like what has always felt natural to me “breaking bread” with those around me seems to work really well. Filling the need. Whatever I have you are welcome to share with me and i can even do without if it serves a good purpose to help others who are in need. Great news is that God always provides and while I learn those valuable lessons He has continually been there to make sure I’m ok. Whether it’s another contract to earn some money, or even a fun game of poker that turns into a few extra bucks. My time and energy, a listening ear, and even a little more time spent in prayer can be the place where I make the most changes. I am actually much more selfish with those things than money. It is so engrained in me it has been hard to see how much time and energy i really have to give. That’s where I am at today. It means I have to get more organized even still with my day to day life. So far it has been a blessing to do anything for a good purpose. Adjusting my schedule etc. Thank you Pastor Ed.
Amén God's unconditional love & promises I truly feel his presence and see everything that he has provided for me from a very long time I've gone through some storms but on the other side is the beautiful rainbow he created he created me and my mother's womb to be his everything that I say that I own is not mine everything belongs to him when I give generously because I am a cheerful Giver I get so abundantly blessed and the bondages that I hold on to seem to take the stronghold little by little away I trust in the Lord with all my heart and I invite him in everyday glory be to God I'll give you all the worship and praise in Jesus mighty name
