Planted for a Purpose

"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it" - 2 Timothy 3:14

There is nothing random about where God has you right now. The people in your life, the place you live, the job you work, the relationships you carry, even the struggles you face, are all part of the placement. You weren’t just dropped somewhere by accident. You were planted.

Paul reminded Timothy to continue in what he had learned. That word “continue” carries the weight of staying put, remaining steady, not running off. And while we often want to move on, level up, or escape the hard things, God sometimes calls us to stay planted right where we are because He is doing something through us.

Think about where you are. Who do you interact with every week? Who sees your life up close? Who watches the way you handle stress, how you talk to people, how you respond to difficulty? You may be the only glimpse of Jesus they get to see. Your obedience, your kindness, your integrity, your peace, all of it can point them to something greater than you.

It’s easy to wish you were somewhere else. It’s easy to say you’ll get serious about following Jesus later, when life looks different. But what if this season is the exact one God wants to use to do something through you and in you?

You’ve got a platform, even if it doesn’t look like one. You’ve got influence, even if it’s quiet. You’ve got a mission field, even if it feels small. Don’t waste where God has planted you by constantly looking for the next thing. Your faithfulness today sets the stage for the fruit God wants to bring tomorrow.

You were planted for a purpose. Right here, right now. Stay rooted, stay faithful, and let your life speak loudly about the God who put you there.

Trying to let this all soak in and I started remembering all the people in my life. My parents, siblings, kids, wife. Friends. Some of these have had some serious apprehension and for sure disbelief. It does resemble a crowd of people honestly. And over time it isn’t my words alone that make much of a difference but they do get to see how God has worked in my life. The huge difference Jesus has made. Especially compared to all the other years of work trying to do things a different way. I have seen some of them change their life and others start to take an interest already. It’s only been a few years. I find comfort in knowing that it isn’t what I am doing that makes the difference but what God is doing. Thank you to our Lord and gracious God. And also thank you Pastor Ed for today’s reading.

Thank you for today’s message Pastor Ed. As I speak to my friends, I discover that those of us who pray with one another often are spreading your daily devotions to all of our friends. So that they can taste and see that the Lord is good. That they will praise the Lord, for he is great!
