Facts Over Feelings
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.” - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Over the last couple of days, we have talked about arguments, disagreements, and conflicts. We have looked at what to do and what not to do in these types of circumstances. When we are in conflict, we should take our issues directly to the person to resolve them. We should do that without being disloyal, disrespectful, or divisive.
When it comes to disagreements, everyone is coming to the table with a different perspective. The way we are raised, the experiences we have, the people we have learned from, and what we have seen all will affect how we view certain situations and circumstances. That makes everyone’s perspective a little different.
And that is okay...as long as it is not contradictory to God’s Word. The people we have encountered and the experiences we have gone through will shape our viewpoints and also our feelings about certain things. But those feelings do not trump the Word of God.
Someone could have gone through something you have never gone through yourself. They will claim you have no idea how they feel. And though that is true, that does not discredit your stance, especially when your stance is biblical.
You can disagree while still being respectful, understanding, and loving. But that does not mean you should ever back down when you know the Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.”
Everyone has an opinion. But no opinion trumps the Bible. When you know God’s Word, stand on it. No matter what!
