Equipped For Good Works

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10

You are not an accident, and you are not here just to take up space. You are God's masterpiece, created with divine intention and specific purpose. Before you took your first breath, God had good works planned specifically for you to accomplish.

The Greek word for "handiwork" in this verse is poiema, from which we get our English word "poem." You are God's poem, His work of art, His masterpiece. And like any great artist or engineer, God created you with a function in mind. He has equipped you with a unique mix of gifts, talents, personality, and experiences to accomplish things that only you can do. You don't have to create your purpose; you just have to discover the one God already prepared. Your life is a mission trip disguised as a daily routine.

For years, I wondered what my purpose was, comparing myself to others and feeling inadequate. I thought I had to be like the famous speakers or leaders I admired. But when I realized that God had been preparing me through every experience, both the good ones and the painful ones, for the specific ministry He had planned for me, everything clicked. I stopped trying to be someone else and started being the masterpiece God made me to be.

Ask God to show you one good work He has prepared for you to do today. It might be as simple as encouraging a friend who is down or as significant as stepping into a new role. Be open to His leading.

Father, thank You for creating me with purpose and calling me Your masterpiece. Help me to discover and fulfill the good works You have prepared for me. Use my life to bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank you Pastor Ed. I was thinking on the drive from the crew house to location this morning about what my purpose is. Praying to God for answers on what to do or where to go. Direction. Then you share this. What if God came to me like He did so I could build something. Maybe this is the foundation you need when building a church? I have no idea and it certainly seems like more than I can chew. But He came to me loud and clear and in every way possible showing me without a shadow of a doubt He is real and the Bible is true. Jesus Christ is the son of God and my personal savior. I don’t know but I’ve always wondered. Thanks again Pastor Ed.

As a poet the poem analogy hit home for me. Each verse designed or written with a purpose. Each stanza designed to enlighten one of their true inner self; a gift to be shared.

nI often get my creative ideas from watching people in public places, doing the silent dance of life. Then image just how “AWESOME “ is our El Shaddai!!!

nThank You Pastor Ed!!!! Sabbath Peace
