Take It to Jesus First
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” - 1 Peter 5:7
When something runs out in your life, the first reaction is often panic. You try to fix it quickly or hide how bad it really is. Pride tells you to manage it quietly. Fear tells you to brace yourself for the worst. In those moments, it rarely crosses your mind to slow down and bring it to Jesus first. Yet that pause is often the most important step you can take.
Running out exposes vulnerability. Patience runs thin. Strength feels limited. Hope dips lower than usual. Those moments make you uncomfortable because they remind you that you are not in control. Many people respond by working harder, worrying more, or pretending everything is fine. None of those responses bring peace. Jesus invites you to do something simpler and far more honest. Bring the shortage to Him.
Taking it to Jesus first does not mean you ignore responsibility. It means you start with trust instead of stress. You acknowledge what you do not have and place it in His hands. Prayer becomes a release instead of a performance. You stop hiding what feels weak and allow God to meet you there. Jesus never asked people to clean up before coming to Him. He asked them to come as they were.
Bringing things to Jesus first also reshapes how you respond afterward. When you pray before reacting, perspective changes. Anxiety loosens its grip. Wisdom replaces urgency. Even if the situation does not change immediately, your heart does. Peace settles where panic once lived. You remember that you are not carrying this alone. God is involved from the beginning, not as a last resort.
If something has been running low in your life, energy, patience, clarity, or hope, pause before you scramble to fix it. Take it to Jesus first. Speak honestly. Hold nothing back. Trust that He cares about what you are facing. He is not intimidated by your lack. He is not disappointed by your need.
Starting with Jesus does not always remove the problem right away, but it anchors you while you walk through it. When you bring the shortage to Him first, you stop hiding and start trusting. That choice opens the door for grace, wisdom, and provision to meet you exactly where you are.

This is truly right on time! I thank God for allowing pastor Ed to speak where I am right now. My family is going through a difficult time and this word what will carry me throughout this weekend of bereavement!!!! amen ??
I will always come to you first my Lord Jesus.
My Lord Oh Thank You and thank you Pastor Ed?? it took me so much pain because I learned that you cannot always go to someone close to you to trust them when you are in pain or in need of something
n It’s You Lord Jesus that I bring it to you and with no doubt my faith is all on You and I know with all my heart and strength that YOU are listening and YOU know exactly what I am praying for ?? Thank You my sweet Jesus ?? You Are in control Amen
This has been me lately. I am battling some tough chronic autoimmune diseases that have caused me to not feel like myself and decrease my normal activity. I am currently on short term disability from work and am due to return in a few weeks but I don’t think I’m ready and now fear and anxiety of losing my Job and my physical health has gotten comfortable within me. I will continue to pray and give this battle to the one who has the power to overcome!!!
Thank you Jesus and Pastor Ed! This Word is Rich! I will stop hiding and trust God to replace my pain with His peace. I take comfort in knowing that no matter what’s going on in my life, He is with me, I am never alone. Hallelujah!
Amen and thank you!!
Such a great reminder Pastor Ed. We shouId pause before reacting and it's not something that comes naturally to many. We must purposefully bring it to His feet 1st knowing and trusting that He cares even about the smallest of our worries. Thank You Lord.
amén!
I True you Lord I will wait on you
I cant believe this is the devotional at the exact moment, I need it. I am just going to vent for a moment. My 19 year old son has been in jail since Nov, he got out today on a accident on the jails end apparently. He is already going back to his old ways which jeopardized his probation. I just need to give it to Jesus, which feels easier said then done. So I am going to make a point to dive in to prayer, worship and His Word right now to try to align this mindset of giving it to Him!
Lay it all down before God and watch Him be faithful to His word.
nAmen
Thank you Pastor Ed and everyone who commented. Not my first instinct all the time but the more habitual I get about reading His word and praying not just in the morning but throughout the day the more inclined I am to have that first instinct of pausing. Another thing that came to mind is where Jesus tells us that when two or three gather in my name I will be with them. And also this:

n““Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”

Thank you Pastor Ed for the reminder, Jesus first! Which builds trust and dependency upon God.
