What Defines You Determines You

“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” - Matthew 6:33

Every day you make hundreds of decisions, most of them without thinking. How you respond to pressure. What you chase with your time. What you protect when things feel threatened. Those decisions are not random. They flow from something deeper. What defines you on the inside always determines how you live on the outside.

Many people define themselves by roles, achievements, or approval. You might see yourself primarily as a professional, a parent, a provider, or someone trying to keep everything together. None of those things is wrong, but they were never meant to be the center. When identity is built on anything temporary, life becomes exhausting. You feel pressure to maintain an image, defend your value, or prove your worth. Decisions start revolving around fear of loss rather than confidence in God.

Jesus offered a better way. He taught that when God becomes the center of your life, everything else finds its proper place. Faith was never meant to be one item on a crowded list of priorities. It was meant to be the foundation underneath all of them. When God defines you, your choices begin to change naturally. You respond with patience instead of panic. You choose integrity over convenience. You measure success differently because your worth is no longer on the line.

This shift does not happen overnight. It forms as you repeatedly place God first in real situations. In moments of stress, you pause and trust Him. In seasons of uncertainty, you lean on His promises. Over time, those choices shape your habits, and your habits shape your life. Alignment comes not from trying harder but from reordering what sits at the center of your heart.

God does not want a place on your list. He wants to be your foundation. When He defines you, your decisions begin to reflect His wisdom and love. What defines you determines you. Let God be the center and watch everything else begin to align.

Thank you for the message of faith and foundation. It is so true. Who says god doesn’t speak? Pay attention he’s always there. Love you Ed and love you God!

In the past, when I felt like someone had falsely accused me, it triggered defensiveness and anger from my human nature. I learned, just as in this lesson, that if I am focusing on accessing the Holy Spirit, Jesus’s teachings and God’s word…I can be calm and confident in my defense.

God is ALWAYS on time. I felt this message speaking directly to me. I’ve been wrestling with work and allowing it to define me but this made it all much more clearer.

nPraise Jesus ??

I wrestle with this right now. My family amd I are going through a season bit our breakthrough is to lean on him and seek him more and all will be ok. I will no longer be defined by what others see of me but of what God sees of me !!!
