Finding Strength In Weakness
"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'" - 2 Corinthians 12:9
We live in a culture that worships strength and hides weakness, where we filter our photos and polish our resumes to look impressive. But in the Kingdom of God, the rules are flipped. God does not need your strength; He wants to be your strength. Your weaknesses are not liabilities; they are opportunities for His power to shine.
The Apostle Paul had a thorn in the flesh, a persistent struggle that he begged God to remove three times. God's answer was not yes to the healing, but yes to the grace. God chose not to remove the weakness because He knew it would keep Paul dependent on Him. When you stop trying to be strong enough on your own and start admitting your need, you tap into a divine power source. God's power is not just a supplement to your strength; it is a substitute for your weakness. It is made perfect, complete, and effective exactly where you fall short.
My greatest ministry breakthroughs have rarely come when I felt confident and capable. They have almost always come when I felt overwhelmed and inadequate. I remember preaching a sermon after a week of personal grief. I felt empty. I told God, "I have nothing to give these people." He whispered, "Good. Now let Me give them something." That Sunday, more people responded to the gospel than in the previous six months combined. It was His power, perfected in my absolute weakness.
Identify your biggest weakness or struggle today. Instead of trying to hide it or fix it yourself, surrender it to God. Tell Him, "I am weak here, so please be strong here."
Lord, I admit that I am weak in many areas, but I rejoice that You are strong. Use my weaknesses to display Your power and bring glory to Your name. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient for everything I face today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Yes!! Amen!!
Thanks! I needed to hear that.
nGod’s timing is perfect.
Pastor Ed and my sisters and brothers in Christ, I have more weaknesses than strengths! Back in 1991 was a turning point in my life. After 3 failed attempts at suicide, I very reluctantly admitted myself into a 30-day Rapha Treatment Center at Hill Country Hospital. That Rapha unit was a locked down Christ centered wing in the hospital. I was "saved" in 1986 so even though I was a born again Christian, I could not cope with the ongoing pain in my heart. And I didn't want to keep hurting others I loved. I didn't WANT to die. I just couldn't take the pain anymore. In that Rapha Unit I learned about my true identity in Christ. In that isolation (from my "world") the Holy Spirit began to transform me. From the moment I walked back into my "world", my women friends were drawn to me like magnets, obviously seeing the transformation! They all wanted to know how that happened. From one woman in my Living Room to a whole group of women in my home, the Spirit brought me from the unbearable PAIN to PURPOSE. When Jesus said "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness'" it's not just hyperbole, not just a figure of speech to exaggerate or emphasize His point; it's a fact, it's Who He is, and I experience it over and over. I so relate to our pastor because of his authenticity, because he teaches us - not from his perfection - but from his weaknesses! That is when we see the amAzing POWER of the Holy Spirit working through him. If I could us an emoji here, it would be the praising hands, amen??
Isn't God a wonderful God and Father. We need him more then he needs us. But because of his love for us we will one day see our savior face to face. Thank you Pastor Ed. And keep looking up.
