Sharing Your Story
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." - 1 Peter 3:15
You do not need to be a theologian or a preacher to share the gospel effectively because you are, in fact, the world's greatest expert on one particular topic: your own life. Your story of transformation is one of the most potent and powerful tools in God's arsenal for reaching a hurting world. People may find it easy to argue with your theology or debate your politics, but they will find it nearly impossible to argue with your personal testimony of a genuinely changed life.
When the Apostle Peter instructs us to be prepared, he specifically directs us to give a reason for the hope that we have. This distinction is crucial because our world, for all its advancements and distractions, is starving for authentic hope. When people around you observe how you navigate a crisis with an unexplainable peace or how you treat difficult people with unexpected kindness, they will eventually wonder why you are different. That curiosity becomes your open door to share the source of your hope. It does not require a long or complicated explanation; it simply needs to be honest and from the heart. Statements as simple as, "I used to be consumed by anxiety, but Jesus gave me a peace that I cannot explain," or "I was lost in addiction, but Jesus set me free," can plant seeds that the Holy Spirit will water. Your life story becomes a living, breathing sermon that points people directly to the goodness of God.
Some of the most effective evangelists I have ever known are ordinary people who have learned to simply share their stories with authenticity and love. I have a dear friend who walked through the painful and bitter experience of divorce. She does not quote Greek or Hebrew when she talks to other women going through similar pain. Instead, she looks them in the eye and says, "God healed my broken heart, and I know He can heal yours too." Her transformed life, a beautiful mosaic made from broken pieces, speaks with a volume and clarity that surpasses any sermon I could ever preach. Her willingness to be vulnerable makes the gospel accessible and deeply attractive to people who would never step foot inside a church but are desperate for healing.
Take ten minutes today to outline your own story in three parts: what your life was like before you met Jesus, how you came to know Him, and how your life has been different since. Keep it simple and heartfelt, concise enough to share in just a few minutes. Then, practice saying it out loud, so you are prepared when God gives you the opportunity.
Lord, thank You for saving me and giving me a story to tell. Please give me opportunities to share that story with others who desperately need the hope that only You can provide. Help me to be bold yet loving, clear yet compassionate, and to always point people back to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Lord always give me the right words to share my story. So as it prevent them from doing some harm to themselves. Because they are hurting. In your name oh Lord In your name.

Your family testimony really touched me. I thought back to what I put my wife through the first few years of our marriage. I'm grateful she stuck with me. 50 years later, by the grace of God, we have two children and six grandchildren. They are walking with the Lord.
amén!
Thank you Pastor Ed. You’re an amazing father. One of the things that kept me drawn to our church was how you were honest about your relationship with Stephanie. When I was having a lot of difficulty in mine and I saw how you two walked through so much and I wanted that for my own. Two imperfect people refusing to give up on each other. To me love is not an emotion but an action. So when I say I love you I don’t mean you warm my heart but that I’m gonna show you in all that I do you are important to me. Because we are of the same body we will experience the same similar things. I have my own stepson who has “secretly” been the focus for several years now. It has caused a lot of problems. I’m just not all that surprised seeing you guys up on that couch and for the subject to be navigating difficult relationships. I came to service yesterday with my youngest but by myself because my wife’s doing internships. I was almost late because I was having a very heated and a very loud talk with my 18 year old step son in the front yard. I was almost shaking when I got in the truck. But I laid it all down where it belongs at the altar. Among other things too. I really appreciate that time you give us to come down and pray. All my hope is in Jesus Christ and our Father. And just to be clear I made some mistakes which led me here where I am. It is absolutely because of myself. I plead mercy. Thank you again Pastor Ed.
Before the testimony comes the test.
