Fighting Spiritual Battles
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world." - Ephesians 6:12
You are in a spiritual war whether you realize it or not. The moment you decided to follow Jesus, you became a target for the enemy because he wants to steal your joy, kill your dreams, and destroy your witness. But the good news is that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
Understanding that you are in a spiritual battle changes how you approach life's challenges. That difficult person at work might not be your real enemy; they might just be a pawn in a larger spiritual conflict. That persistent discouragement might be a spiritual attack, not just a bad mood. We cannot fight spiritual battles with physical weapons like arguing or worrying. We must fight with spiritual weapons: prayer, God's Word, worship, and faith. When we align ourselves with God's power, we stand in victory.
When I started recognizing spiritual warfare for what it was, I stopped fighting people and started fighting the real enemy. Instead of arguing with my spouse when tension arose, I started praying for our marriage and rebuking the spirit of division. It changed the atmosphere in our home completely. We realized we were on the same team fighting a common enemy.
Read Ephesians 6:13–18 today. Mentally put on the full armor of God. Pray through each piece and ask God to protect you and your family in the spiritual battle.
Father, I recognize that I am in a spiritual battle. Equip me with Your armor and help me to fight with spiritual weapons. Give me discernment to see the enemy's schemes and the victory to overcome them. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pastor Ed what a great word this am. I am the King of doing things in my own strength. Thanks for reminding I'm trying to fight a battle Jesus has already won.

amén!
I am pretty sure I have been under attack. Over the past two weeks there have been so many things just out of reach. Or rolled under just a little too far to reach. Kinda like a Murphys law poster. That is very unusual. So unusual in fact that I’ve had to stop and acknowledge it. But all things work together for our good because of Him. So you can slow me down but you aren’t stopping me and God. It’s actually brought me closer to some people I care very much about. You are my story Pastor Ed. Thank you for sharing.
Amen!! Thank you, Pastor Ed for your continued daily devotions. I share your devotions with my sisters in Michigan. They love the sermons and devotions.
