The Witnesses Of Truth

"He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep." - 1 Corinthians 15:5–6

I have always been fascinated by courtroom dramas. You know the moment when the key witness takes the stand and everything changes? The case that seemed hopeless suddenly has credibility because someone who was actually there tells what they saw.

Paul presents the resurrection like a legal case, calling witness after witness. First Peter, then the twelve disciples, then over five hundred people at once. These were not hallucinations or wishful thinking - these were real encounters with the living Christ. Paul even says most of these witnesses were still alive when he wrote this letter, essentially saying, "Go ask them yourself if you do not believe me."

But here is what strikes me most about these witnesses: they were ordinary people just like us. Peter was impulsive and had denied Jesus three times. Thomas was a skeptic who demanded proof. The disciples were frightened and confused. Yet when they encountered the risen Christ, their lives were transformed so completely that they were willing to die for what they had seen.

I think about my own journey of faith. There was a time when I questioned everything, when doubts seemed louder than belief. But then I had my own encounter with the living Christ - not a physical appearance like the early disciples, but a real, life-changing experience of His presence and power. That encounter turned my skepticism into unshakable faith.

You might be struggling with doubts today. Maybe you wonder if the resurrection really happened or if it makes any difference in your daily life. Remember, God is not afraid of your questions. He welcomes honest seekers just as He welcomed Thomas.

What evidence of the resurrection do you see in your own life? How has encountering the living Christ changed you?

Father, thank You for providing so many witnesses to the resurrection. When doubts creep in, remind me of the overwhelming evidence of Your Son's victory over death. Help me to be a witness in my own generation, sharing the hope I have found in the risen Christ. Give me boldness to tell others what You have done in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.

My husband had a severe stroke Feb. 2025. He slept for 3 mths. I worshipped (and cried) every morning before going to see him. Along this journey I have truly experienced God's presence and His peace. God ALWAYS supplied our needs. Christian therapists, doctors, neighbors that came over every morning and nite to help get him in bed. Yesterday he had an MRI to see if there has been any change. This was our 1st solo trip. He was a Pastor and Hospice Chaplain. Wakes up every morning planning his day, and who he needs to talk to, and every nite asking for a fresh anointing! He loved reaching the broken,.hurt, person. When dealing with brain, Noone knows the outcome, but God does! Lost and saved are watching!!! May God get the glory!!!!! Thank you for your awesome way of making God's Word clear and applicable to our lives. Keep following God's voice! Love in Christ

I was born again in 1986. Lost Timothy Gregg, my only son (my only child) who was stillborn. Postpartum depression and other strongholds were more painful than I could cope with. I tried to take my own life 3 times. BUT GOD ... removed the veil off my eyes and my heart to fully grasp my true identity in Christ. He turned my PAIN into my PURPOSE. I've never been suicidal since and I never will be. I have too much to do before I go. Too many women who need a safe place to talk about their PAIN and know that God is transforming it into their PURPOSE. That is the evidence of resurrection power in my life. THANK YOU, JESUS. HALLELUJAH.

Thank you Pastor Ed for sharing your experience along with the scripture. Something happened in October of 2020 here in San Antonio. I would say it just happened to me but I’ve seen a few people who describe something atleast happening to them involving God. For me it was an overwhelming and very powerful experience of His presence. The Holy Spirit came into me or maybe came out of me. I’m not sure how to describe it other than what’s in the bible. I didn’t know what was going on at all but over time have been able to learn more about it. I am grateful for this experience but I wish I had not made it all about me at the time. I wanted to be a certain way but I could not. Was not able to. It’s about Jesus Christ and He is very much alive. I had always wanted to believe like I saw others believe in the church. Who wouldn’t? When I finally stopped looking for Him He came to me. One of the things I noticed was that everything in the world was a repeating pattern of the life of Jesus Christ. It’s in everything from movies to music. The entire creation tells the same story over and over again. I don’t praise Him enough.
