Do Whatever He Tells You to Do
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” - Proverbs 3:5
Most people want clarity before commitment. You want to know how things will turn out before you take the step. You want assurance before obedience. That feels reasonable, but faith often works in the opposite direction. God regularly asks for trust before explanation. He invites movement before comfort. Obedience becomes the doorway through which understanding eventually comes.
There are moments when God’s instruction feels almost too simple. Forgive that person. Speak the truth. Take the next step. Let go. Nothing dramatic. Nothing fully explained. The challenge is not complexity. The challenge is trust. Simple obedience can feel risky because it removes control. You are no longer waiting to see how it all fits together. You are choosing to follow even when the picture is incomplete.
God moves through trust, not full explanations. When you insist on understanding everything first, faith stays theoretical. When you obey with limited information, faith becomes active. Scripture shows again and again that God responds to willing hearts more than perfect plans. Obedience creates space for Him to work in ways you could not predict. Understanding often follows action, not the other way around.
This does not mean turning off wisdom or ignoring discernment. It means recognizing the difference between caution and resistance. Sometimes the delay you call wisdom is actually fear in disguise. God’s instructions may stretch you, but they will not contradict His character. When He speaks, it is always rooted in love and purpose, even if the outcome is unclear.
If God has been prompting you toward something specific, pay attention to where you are hesitating. Ask yourself what you are waiting for. Another sign. More confirmation. Less risk. Then consider this. God may already have given enough direction for the next step. He is not asking you to solve the entire path. He is asking you to trust Him with today.
Do whatever He tells you to do, even when it feels small or uncertain. Obedience is not about having all the answers. It is about believing the One who speaks. When you move in trust, God meets you there. Clarity grows. Faith strengthens. And you discover that simple obedience often opens the door to deeper understanding than explanations ever could.

Yes sir Pastor Ed. Thank you. Today, this morning, right now I am open to seeing something different. Open to doing something different. I am willing to let go of what may be considered good for whatever God tells me to do. That’s the thing. It isn’t that I don’t trust God. It’s that I place too high of a trust in myself. These things didn’t just appear overnight. They stay there because I still think some of those old ideas are good. Today I admit that even in my best moments I am only able to demonstrate what has been shown to me by my Father. Either my father on earth, or my Father in heaven. Which one am I going to follow?
When you hear the Holy Spirt speak to your heart. That's our Heavenly Father talking to you. Do as he directs you. Walk as Christ did. Don't ignore his voice.
Thank you for this message Pastor Ed.
Amen to the Word of God! To obey is better than sacrifice. Our will must be to do Gods will.
