Pray Bigger Prayers

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” - Ephesians 3:20

Many people approach prayer with caution. You ask for what feels reasonable, safe, or manageable. You pray within the boundaries of what seems possible because disappointment feels easier to handle than daring faith. Over time, that habit shrinks your expectations and convinces you that God only works on a small scale. Scripture paints a very different picture. The God who formed the universe and raised Jesus from the dead is not limited by your imagination. He invites you to believe for more than you think is possible.

When you look through the Bible, you find stories of ordinary people who prayed bold prayers. Their circumstances were impossible, their resources were limited, and their understanding was small, yet they took their needs to a God who had no limits. Their confidence did not come from themselves. It came from knowing who they were talking to. Faith began to rise when they stopped sizing God according to their situation and started sizing their situation according to God.

Small prayers can become the default when life feels heavy or uncertain. Fear whispers that you should lower your expectations. Past disappointment tells you not to hope too deeply. But faith grows in the space where you stretch your trust. When you choose to pray bigger, your heart starts shifting. Courage grows. Perspective expands. You begin to see God as He truly is, not as your circumstances describe Him.

This does not mean treating prayer like a wishlist or assuming God will grant every desire the way you frame it. Bigger prayers come from a place of surrender. They acknowledge God’s power while submitting to His wisdom. They say, “Lord, I believe You are able, and I trust You with the outcome.” That kind of posture strengthens your faith even before the answer arrives.

Take a moment today and look at the places in your life where your prayers have become too safe. Invite God into the areas you have been hesitant to bring to Him. Ask Him for what seems unreachable. Trust Him with the details you cannot fix. Your situation may feel large, but your God is larger. You grow when your prayers stretch beyond comfort and step into faith. God can do far more than you ask or imagine, and He delights in meeting you at the edge of belief.

From the very first sentence of Pastor Ed's devotional, I felt the Spirit so strongly and with every sentence, every paragraph, I felt the spiritual power overcoming the enemy's influence over us. Anybody else? The world, the flesh, and the devil ... Satan in disguise ( 2 Corinthians 11:14-15) our deceitful heart (Jeremiah 17:9-10) and the "world" trying to conform us into robots who go along with the crowd without any discernment of the truth (Romans 12:2). Pastor Ed helped me to see today how we can be lulled into our thought patterns even when it comes to prayer and our expectations. Love, love, love this message today. I want to make it a huge STICKY I see every day to remind me!

God knew I needed this message. Right before I came here, I was sitting on my bed, read today’s Bible App scripture and said “God I don’t know how to ask You or what to ask for”. I’m going through the toughest storm I’ve ever experienced in my whole life. My heart is grieving. You’re right Pastor. Scripture paints a different picture. Since the beginning of His creation He’s shown us what we still can’t comprehend and yet believe He did it! I trust this storm is in His hands and He will work it out for good! My burdens are His too because He loves me and I know and have faith that this Storm is no surprise to Him. I’m the daughter of The Most High!! May his will be done. Thank you Pastor for painting a picture that I can relate to, reflect on and find Truth.

I do ask big! My adopted motto: Go big or go home. I ask and ask and my struggle is being patient. I am working on that patience of mine. Thank you Pastor Ed; and so I wait for God's timing.

This is where believers should reside and it’s hit so close to home. I learned this early on and it’s carried my family through so much! Two examples, the first is when starting a business. My wife and I prayed for guidance and thr Lord said “As Big as you’ll go, I’ll Go”. We went BIG and in excellence in every area and His hand was on it during every turn!

n

nThe second example was when my sister was fighting cancer. We were believing for the miraculous and what was impossible became possible! Her counts went down to single digits and almost zero, then one day out of the blue it took and major turn and she went on to be with the Lord. I was devastated. That night I had a dream I was walking with my head down next to a line of people. I abruptly stop by one person and looked up and when I looked up I began to cry out, because it was her and when I went to hug her a voice said, “don’t touch her yet, she hasn’t ascended to the Father”. Because I learned who God is, following the home-going, I immediately went into my gym, erased everything on my dry erase board and wrote “God I thank you that you are STILL a healer”. Satan knows I’m believing God to lay hands on the sick and they SHALL recover. I’m not letting that go.
