Imitating Jesus
“Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.” - 3 John 1:11
Over the last couple of days, we have discussed the “blue check” of social media. For those who do not spend a large amount of time on social media, platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok use a blue check as a symbol to validate an account.
This separates the real account from those who have made fake accounts, pretending to be someone else. We serve a blue check Jesus. He is the real deal. And while it is frowned upon to imitate and make fake accounts of celebrities on social media, it is exactly what you want to do with Jesus.
No, not make a fake account, but imitate Him. Jesus gave us the perfect picture of what it looks like to live as a human being on this earth. He lived for 33 years, was tempted, and never sinned. He never gave in to temptation. He did not give into His fleshly desires. And through it all, He followed God.
He stayed patient when patience was required. He showed love when others mocked Him. He served the lowly, even though He was the greatest of all. If you want a blueprint for how to live your life, Jesus gave that to you.
A lot of people now will tell you how you should live. Do this or don’t do that. This helped me make money, or this helped me land the girl...
But these are not the things we should be chasing. When you live like Jesus, God the Father will reward you. There is no greater thing you can do than to imitate Jesus Christ.
3 John 1:11 says, “Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.”
Do not follow bad examples, but instead let Jesus be the one you look to imitate. You can’t go wrong living like Jesus did!
