Will I Move Closer to Jesus This Christmas?

"When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, 'Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.' So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger." - Luke 2:15-16

As we approach the Christmas season, it's a perfect time to reflect on our journey of faith and ask ourselves a question: "Will I move closer to Jesus this Christmas?" The story of the shepherds in Luke 2:15-16 provides us with valuable insights on how we can make this season a time of drawing nearer to our Savior.

The shepherds were given a divine revelation by the angels, and their response was immediate and purposeful. They didn't procrastinate or allow distractions to hinder them. Instead, they made a conscious decision to seek Jesus. This decision set them on a path that led them to the Savior.

In a world filled with distractions, it's easy to lose sight of the true reason for the season. The busyness of holiday preparations and festivities can sometimes pull us away from the heart of Christmas. Yet, just like the shepherds, we can choose to make a deliberate effort to draw closer to Jesus.

This Christmas, consider setting aside intentional moments for prayer, reflection, and reading God's Word. These practices can help us rekindle our relationship with Christ, allowing His presence to be the central focus of our celebrations.

Christmas provides a wonderful opportunity to share the Gospel with others. As the shepherds shared the news of the Savior's birth, we can share the good news of Jesus with our friends, family, and neighbors. This act not only strengthens our own faith but also brings others closer to Jesus.

As you prepare for this season, ask yourself, "Will I move closer to Jesus this Christmas?" Decide to prioritize your relationship with Him, just as the shepherds did. May your journey be marked by a deepening connection with Christ, a commitment to share His love, and a sense of purpose in making this Christmas a time of drawing nearer to the One who is the true reason for the season.
