Leading Where You Are Called
"And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ." - Ephesians 4:11-12
Not everyone is a natural-born leader, and that's perfectly okay. But there comes a time when God entrusts us with leadership responsibilities in the spaces He has called us to. Whether it's in our families, workplaces, communities, or churches, God equips each of us to lead where we are called.
Leadership in the kingdom of God isn't about having a title or position of authority; it's about serving others with humility, love, and integrity. It's about using our gifts, talents, and influence to build up and empower those around us for the work of ministry.
Perhaps you find yourself in a leadership role, or maybe you sense God calling you to step into a new level of leadership. Regardless of where you are on your leadership journey, remember that God doesn't call the equipped; He equips the called.
Effective leadership begins with a deep and abiding relationship with God. As we spend time in His presence, studying His Word, and seeking His guidance through prayer, He fills us with His wisdom, strength, and discernment to lead others well.
Being a leader also means leading by example. Our actions often speak louder than our words, and those we lead will take their cues from how we live out our faith in everyday life. Therefore, it's essential to strive for consistency between our words and deeds, modeling the character of Christ in all that we do.
Effective leadership also requires a heart of servanthood. Jesus Himself exemplified this servant leadership model, washing His disciples' feet and laying down His life for them. As leaders, we are called to follow His example, putting the needs of others above our own and serving them with love and humility.
So whether you find yourself in a leadership role today or sense God calling you to step into greater leadership in the future, remember that He has equipped you for such a time as this. Lean on His strength, walk in humility, and lead with love, knowing that He goes before you and empowers you to make a difference in the lives of those you lead.c
