Why Not You?
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10
God is always at work in the world, and He’s going to use someone to accomplish His purpose. Someone will be chosen to make a difference, to walk in the plans He’s already laid out. So, why not you? It’s easy to think God’s calling is reserved for someone else, someone more qualified or more prepared. But the truth is, God often chooses ordinary people to do extraordinary things for His glory.
You might have a platform or influence that others don’t, whether it’s in your job, your family, or your community. God has placed you there for a reason, and He wants to work in and through you. But here’s the key: as you step into that calling, it’s essential to remember that it’s not about you. It’s never been about elevating ourselves or seeking recognition. The focus has to remain on pointing back to Him.
When God blesses you, when He gives you an opportunity to do something great, it’s a chance to reflect His goodness, not your own. It’s easy to get caught up in the spotlight, but if we’re not careful, pride can creep in. We start thinking it’s our abilities, our hard work, or our wisdom that’s making things happen. But the truth is, we are just vessels. Anything good that comes from us is a result of His grace.
God’s desire is to work through you, but only when you submit to His purpose, when you say yes to His plans, knowing full well it’s not about building your name but lifting His. So as you begin to embrace the idea of “why not me?” don’t lose sight of the bigger picture. It’s about His glory, not ours. The best thing we can do is stay humble, remembering that without Him, none of it would be possible.
Why not you? You’re perfectly positioned for God to do something amazing but let Him have the credit.

When the presence of God was revealed to me it was extraordinary. The Holy Spirit came on me in such a way it was undeniable. I remember clearly the feeling of being nothing. I had always been taught that it wasn’t about me but here God was telling me it always had been about me. Loved me like I was the only one that ever existed. But when He came what I had requested was “I just want to help”. When I align my will with what God wants the world opens up and His power can work through me to do things that normally wouldn’t work out. I like where it says also don’t forget the benefits too. What an understatement.
