I Want More

"Taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!" – Psalm 34:8

You may not understand everything about the Holy Spirit, but once you have tasted and seen His power at work, there is no denying that you want more. Not more for recognition. Not more to impress people. Not more for the stage. You want more because you need the presence of the Holy Spirit in your home, in your marriage, and in your everyday life. You want more so that joy, peace, patience, and kindness are not just words but realities in your life.

When Jesus came to earth, He preached the kingdom of heaven. His mission was not just to take people to heaven one day. It was to bring the reality of heaven to earth now. That is why He gave the Holy Spirit. That is why He told His disciples to wait for power.

In John 20, Jesus told them to receive the Holy Spirit. Then in the upper room, with 120 people gathered together, they were filled with power. It was not just for a moment. It was the unleashing of something new. They stepped into the fullness of what God had for them.

That same power is available to you. The Holy Spirit has given gifts, declarative gifts to speak truth, discerning gifts to bring wisdom and understanding, and dynamic gifts of healing and faith. But the gifts are not the focus. The Giver is. The gifts are not meant to be worshipped. The One who gives them is.

Many people chase spiritual gifts but neglect spiritual fruit. The power of the Holy Spirit is not just about what you do. It is about who you become. When you walk by the Spirit and not by the flesh, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are the result. It is not "fruits of the Spirit" but "fruit" of the Spirit. One fruit that is fully produced when you abide in Him.

Jesus said in John 15, "Abide in me, apart from me you can do nothing." If you want more, it starts there. More power, more clarity, and more of the Spirit’s presence in your life will only come when you stay connected to Jesus. The more you abide, the more you will walk in everything He has for you.

Thank you Pastor Ed. For me it’s hard sometimes to distinguish between a want and a need. It’s easy to dismiss something I maybe just want. Trying to stay positive you know. It usually takes me really taking a harder look at things to realize that many of my wants are needs. I need the Holy Spirit in my life for my family, and for myself. Even just to make it through the day out here working I need Him.

Thank you. I love the Holy Spirit and how he works in my life. Right now my family has so many terrible things going on in our lives. We have physical pain, emotional, pain, fragile babies starting life in the womb, violence.

nWe suffer financial pain, job losses. Sometimes I believe even demons that are actively trying to destroy those of us with faith. This is so overwhelming, just overwhelming. Without the Holy Spirit showing me self control, God's love AND forgiveness we would not be able to bear it. If you have moment to pray for us, I would be grateful. Thank you for the daily message that often sustains me and comforts me.

We are praying for you. Also our church has an online link which I like to use personally for prayers. I believe strongly in the power of prayer. God is always listening. And I’m really sorry to hear about that situation as well.
