Stop Fighting and Let Him Save You
"The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." – Exodus 14:14
You are not alone in what you are going through. Whatever battle you are facing, whatever weight you are carrying, Jesus is right there with you. And He is not just near. He is ready to rescue you.
Years ago, when I was in college, I worked as a lifeguard at a camp. Part of my training was learning how to rescue someone drowning in the water. What they taught us was surprising. When someone is flailing, desperately trying to save themselves, you have to be careful. In their panic, they can actually pull you under and make things worse.
So what do you do? You get close. You stay within reach. But you do not grab them until they stop fighting. The moment they give up, the moment they stop trying to save themselves, that is when you move in. You slip your arms under theirs, hold them across their chest, and start swimming them back to safety.
That is exactly what Jesus does for you. He is not standing on the shore watching you struggle. He is in the water with you, waiting for you to stop fighting on your own. The moment you surrender, the moment you let go of the idea that you can fix it yourself, He is right there to pull you into His arms.
But as long as you keep thrashing, as long as you keep trying to control everything, you are resisting the very rescue you need.
Jesus is in the water today. He is saying, "Lay it down. Stop. Surrender." The healing you need is not in fighting harder. It is in trusting Him enough to stop. Let Him hold you. Let Him carry you. Let Him save you.

Amen! Just as true today as it was before when it was real bad for me. Acceptance. In the Navy they taught us the same kind of thing. It was so serious though that they told us it is better to knock them out first if they won’t stop flailing. Some things in life are so important to me it’s very very hard to surrender at times. Like my kids for instance. I am very much the protector. You’re absolutely right though. It’s just harder to surrender when it comes to the things that matter to me most. That fear can be so strong but I do what I can with what I have. God has given us His faith now too though. For me I get to play that card now trusting that even though I don’t know what that’s going to look like that it’s going to be good because He is good.
