The Belt of Truth

"Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth." – John 17:17

What holds your life together? For most people, it’s whatever feels good in the moment. We live in a world that says, “What’s true for you might not be true for me.” We love to avoid confrontation, so we settle for things like “agree to disagree.” That’s all fine until someone gets hurt and justice is needed. Because the reality is, you have to have truth.

Without truth, everything falls apart. A world with no truth is a world of chaos. And if you look around, that’s exactly what you see. People are letting their emotions lead them, and the result is confusion, frustration, and brokenness.

But here’s something I learned from a friend named Chris White. He said, “Truth, void of any form of emotion, sometimes becomes just legalism and religion. But emotion with no truth will lead to chaos.” That’s the world we’re living in. Everyone is chasing feelings with no solid foundation to stand on.

The Belt of Truth is what holds everything together. When you put on the Belt of Truth, you are choosing to let God’s Word be the standard by which you live. It’s not just about knowing the truth. It’s about living by it, even when it’s hard. Even when it goes against how you feel.

John 17:17 says, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” God’s Word isn’t just a collection of good ideas. It’s the unshakable, unchanging truth that gives you something solid to stand on in a world that’s crumbling.

But truth isn’t just about rules and regulations. It’s about knowing God’s heart. It’s about living in a way that reflects His love, grace, and holiness. And when you let His truth shape your life, it brings clarity, peace, and direction.

Don’t settle for a life built on shifting emotions and temporary feelings. Put on the Belt of Truth. Let God’s Word hold you together and keep you steady no matter what comes your way. Because when you live by truth, chaos doesn’t get the final word. God does.

A couple years ago I really wanted to find out how to get all this armor of God. I heard people talk about it but didn’t think or feel like I had it. Thank you Pastor Ed. I am so glad I read the Bible every day. Do Bible plans and read meditations. Go to church and never miss a service. When life is tough and we are so far away from hitting the mark it’s very difficult to understand things like this. But what we can do is just start doing things every day. If we want it. See, I believe. And I have been believing in the goodness of God and the hope that if I can do something different eventually I can have these things too. God is so much better than I ever thought He was. He gave me what I thought was the best thing ever right up front but the consistency of His grace is turning out to be far more useful than any feeling I had received.
