The Treasure That Never Fades
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:20-21
There are treasures we chase after in this world that feel so important in the moment. Things like money, attention, popularity, or the next big accomplishment. We pour ourselves into them because they promise something we think we need. They offer security, fulfillment, purpose, or even peace. But here’s the hard truth. None of them can actually give us what they promise. They don’t last, they don’t satisfy, and they certainly don’t follow us into eternity.
Then there’s Jesus.
Your relationship with Him is a treasure that never fades. It never rusts, never loses value, and can never be stolen from you. His love isn’t based on trends or performance. It’s not seasonal or situational. It’s secure, consistent, and eternal. No amount of success or failure will change it. No market crash, no job loss, no betrayal, no diagnosis, no mistake can undo what Jesus has already done for you on the cross.
The world will try to convince you that it has something better to offer. It will keep flashing temporary treasures in your face, hoping you'll trade something eternal for something quick and shiny. But deep down, you already know the truth. Those things might satisfy for a moment, but they never last. They fade. They break. They disappoint.
But not Jesus. He is the only treasure who gives more the longer you know Him. The more time you spend with Him, the more peace, wisdom, purpose, and strength you gain. And unlike everything else in your life, He will never walk away from you.
It's time to stop reaching for what rusts. Start leaning into the One who doesn’t. Because Jesus is the treasure worth building your entire life upon.

Amen Pastor Ed. Thank you for so clearly describing this relationship with Jesus. I read a lot of daily devotional stuff and I just noticed this morning right before I read your blog how they often bring up conditional love as part of a relationship with God. Then you just make all the more sense here. Man it is so easy to get lost these days. I forget that it’s unconditional. He doesn’t just change His mind based on my performance. Yes. This is the kind of love that makes me want to do better. Thank you sir
