Provision on the Other Side of Obedience
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding" - Proverbs 3:5
There comes a moment in every walk of faith when God asks you to step without showing you where your foot will land. It might be a decision about your future, a risk you feel called to take, or a door you sense Him opening even though the path beyond it is still unknown. And everything in you wants confirmation before commitment.
But God does not work like that. He often waits until we move to reveal what comes next. That is not to frustrate you. It is to free you from depending on sight more than trust. If God showed you the whole picture in advance, you would not need faith. What pleases Him is not your perfection but your willingness to trust Him completely.
Provision is not always packaged in advance. Sometimes it arrives mid-step. The resources, relationships, clarity, and courage you are asking for may already be prepared by God, but He is waiting for you to step into the space where they are already assigned to show up.
You do not have to have all the answers to say yes. You do not have to know how it ends to trust the One who began it. Your job is obedience. His job is outcome. And He has never once failed to provide for the person who trusted Him fully.
If you are standing at a decision, wondering if you should wait until it all makes sense, remember this. Obedience comes first. Provision follows. When you trust Him with everything, He takes care of everything. Not always how you expect, but always exactly as you need.

Hebrews 11:1-2. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for , the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation.”
Amen Barry we'll said.
This is so true Pastor. God has called our family to step out like this several times and He ALWAYS carried us through it providing everything we needed as we did. He also ALWAYS had GREAT PURPOSE behind it. Our faith has grown exponentially by stepping out in faith and risking everything on Jesus! He is so worth the risk!
Good morning Pastor Ed, thank you for this right now word. As I mature in my walk with the Lord I’ve come to understand that obedience free’s you. God knows all and like a parent He will provide. It’s awesome to be obedient and watch God work. It’s not always easy but the reward is God knowing what’s best for you and the situation will always play out in your favor even if it’s not what you desired.
thank you, that is the one thing I have faith in. The Lord has and will always prevail and I will be ok.
I can testify that what Pastor Ed is saying is SO TRUE. On April 22, 2006, I was fervently praying on my knees for the Spirit's CLEAR direction. My husband and I were working out some serious "issues" with the help of our pastor and were temporarily separated. My husband had parked our motor home on an elder's farmland nearby and we agreed to meet each weekend at our home. As I prayed on that day, knowing my husband was coming to meet with me soon, the LORD said "TODAY". I knew what He meant. He wanted me to invite my husband to come back home - TODAY. He actually said it several times because I was in this "But Lord ..." mindset telling Him all the reasons why that didn't make sense. Finally I surrendered - letting Him know it was an act of my will - an act of obedience - because I was not ready and I didn't think he was either. As we talked that day, for the first time I heard my husband talk about things the Lord had told him, showed him. I was in awe of how relationship had developed between my husband, Steve, and the Lord. When I invited my husband to come back home that day, tears streamed down his face and he was not one to show much emotion. That invitation was not MY grace but out of obedience. Feelings followed. INSTANTLY! We were totally reconciled and went into the wee hours of the morning acting like newlyweds but even better because of the depth of our bond. Around 3 in the morning, my husband pulled me over on his chest to whisper his love for me and say goodnight ~ then he took his last breath. "TODAY" ... the Lord knew my obedience couldn't wait another day. I have never and will never stop thanking Him for His mercy and compassion!
Spot on and so encouraging, Pastor Ed.
