Wisdom For The Weary

"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.” - Isaiah 40:28–29

When we are exhausted and overwhelmed, we need more than just rest. We need divine wisdom to navigate our weariness.

There are seasons when life feels like too much. The decisions pile up, the responsibilities multiply, and we find ourselves running on empty. In these moments, we need to remember that our God never grows weary, and His understanding is unsearchable. What feels overwhelming to us is completely manageable to Him.

Isaiah reminds us that God gives power to the faint and increases strength to those who have no might. This includes mental and emotional strength. When we cannot think clearly because we are exhausted, God can provide the wisdom we need to make good decisions even in our weakness. His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and His wisdom shines brightest when our own understanding fails us.

During a particularly demanding season of ministry, I found myself making poor decisions simply because I was too tired to think clearly. A mentor pulled me aside and said, "Ed, you are trying to operate in your own wisdom when you have no energy left. Start each decision by asking God what He thinks, not what you think." That simple shift changed everything. I began to lean into His understanding rather than my depleted mental resources.

If you are feeling overwhelmed today, take a step back before making any major decisions. Ask God for His perspective on your situation and trust that His wisdom is available even when you feel too tired to think straight.

Prayer: 
Father, I confess that sometimes I am too tired to think clearly, and yet life still demands decisions from me. Thank You that You never grow weary and that Your understanding is perfect. I lean into Your strength and wisdom today. Help me make decisions from Your perspective, not from my exhaustion. Renew my mind and spirit as I trust in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
