A Personal God

"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." – James 4:8

Have you ever stopped to think about how amazing it is that the Creator of the universe wants a relationship with you? God, who spoke the stars into existence and holds all things together, isn’t distant or detached. He’s a personal God, and He longs to be a part of your life, not just the big moments, but every single detail.

God didn’t just set the world in motion and step back to watch. From the very beginning, He has been drawing near to His creation. He walked in the garden with Adam and Eve. He spoke to Moses face-to-face. And through Jesus, He came to dwell among us, showing His deep desire to know and be known by His people.

But here’s the truly incredible part: He doesn’t just want to connect with humanity as a whole; He wants to connect with you. He knows your name, your struggles, your dreams, and your fears. He sees every part of your life, even the parts you try to hide, and He loves you anyway. That’s the kind of personal relationship He offers.

God wants to be involved in every aspect of your life. He wants to guide your decisions, comfort you in your pain, celebrate your victories, and walk with you through the mundane moments of the day. But like any relationship, this connection requires effort. God invites you to draw near to Him, to seek Him in prayer, in His Word, and in the quiet moments when you open your heart to Him.

When you choose to let God into every area of your life, you’ll experience His presence in ways that are deeply personal and transformative. You’ll find that He’s not just a God who hears you; He’s a God who understands you, loves you, and wants to walk with you through every step of your journey. Today, draw near to Him. Invite Him into your decisions, your relationships, your joys, and your struggles. He’s already waiting, ready to draw near to you.

Thank you Ed. I have been able to see God working in the world and with me in amazing ways for awhile now. I never would have expected to be blown away in other ways by Him even still after that but there it is. I woke up with that song in my head today: I am living proof. Of what holding on can do. Keep praying. Keep praising. lol. I am still stunned how someone like me can go from where I was to where I am now. It was absolutely impossible.
