Stay Battle-Ready

"Be sober-minded, be watchful, your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." – 1 Peter 5:8

Have you ever made the decision to go all in for Jesus, to fully surrender and walk in His purpose, only to find yourself facing more opposition than ever before? You decide to lay down the things that aren’t good for you, the habits and distractions pulling you away from God, and you choose to replace them with holy habits and healthy habits. But as soon as you do, it feels like all of hell is aimed at you.

Maybe you’ve been there. You wrote “Why Not You?” on your mirror or left a sticky note on your dashboard, reminding yourself of the purpose God has called you to. You’ve chosen to believe what God says about you, and you’ve made the commitment to walk in His purpose and destiny for your life. But the moment you start walking in that direction, everything gets harder.

Suddenly, you’re questioning why life feels so difficult when you’re trying to do the right thing. You’re asking God, “I’m trying to follow You, so why does it feel like everything is falling apart?” The problem is, we often equate God’s blessings with an easy, comfortable life. We think success in God’s eyes should come without resistance or struggle.

But here’s what you need to understand. When you choose to walk in God’s purpose, the enemy takes notice. Satan doesn’t want you experiencing the goodness of God pouring into your life. He doesn’t want you walking in freedom, purpose, and victory. So he will do everything he can to discourage you, distract you, and destroy what God is building in you.

1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober-minded, be watchful, your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” The battle is real, but so is God’s power. Staying battle-ready means being intentional about your walk with Jesus. It means guarding your mind, filling the gaps with His truth, and standing firm in the face of opposition.

Don’t let the struggles make you doubt your purpose. Let them strengthen your resolve to keep moving forward. Stay battle-ready, because the God who called you is faithful to see you through.
