Crave What Lasts

"Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation." - 1 Peter 2:2

You know that feeling when a craving hits and it feels like it’s taking over everything else? It might be food, validation, attention, success, or something more subtle, but the pull is strong. The world constantly throws things at you to desire, chase, and build your life around. And the truth is, sometimes you give in to those cravings. You want what you know deep down will not satisfy, and when you realize it, guilt sets in. That guilt is real, but it does not have to be the end of the story.

Instead of sitting in guilt, let it become a signal. Let it be the flashing light that reminds you what your soul is actually starving for. That craving is not a weakness to be ashamed of. It is an opportunity to realign your heart. You were created to crave God. You were made to hunger for His presence, to thirst for His Word, and to be deeply satisfied in who He is. So when that pull hits, flip it. Let that craving drive you into Scripture. Let it draw you into prayer. Let it send you into worship.

You are not condemned because you feel tempted. You are not a failure because you long for something that will not fulfill you. The key is learning how to turn that longing toward the only One who can satisfy it. The more time you spend with God, the more your appetite changes. Over time, you begin to crave what is good. You begin to crave what brings life. You begin to crave Him.

So when the world calls, when the old patterns whisper, when your mind starts reaching for something that you know will leave you empty, do not beat yourself up. Just shift the craving. God is not ashamed of you. He is ready to meet you in that place and fill you with something real.
