A Life That’s Never Wasted

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” - Proverbs 16:9

There is no shortage of paths to take in life. The world will offer you dozens of roads to chase. You can pursue success, comfort, approval, security, and everything in between. And while some of those things aren’t wrong on their own, they can become distractions when they pull your heart away from God’s purpose for you. But here’s the truth you need to hold onto today. A life fully surrendered to God’s will is a life that is never wasted.

God’s plan for your life is not about achieving worldly status or checking off society’s definition of success. It’s about living for something eternal. When you align yourself with His will, He starts using your life in ways you couldn’t imagine. That doesn’t mean it’s always going to be easy.

Sometimes the path God calls you to might feel slow or even unnoticed. You may not get applause for obedience, and it may feel like you're giving up something to walk in His purpose. But what you gain in return is so much greater. You gain peace. You gain purpose. You gain the assurance that your life is not random, and that every step has meaning.

The beautiful thing about God’s will is that it’s rooted in who He is. He doesn’t waste time. He doesn’t waste effort. And He certainly doesn’t waste lives. You might not always see the results immediately, but rest assured, the seeds of obedience are always producing something significant. Your impact might show up in your family, your community, or in someone else’s life years down the line. You may not always get to see it, but it’s happening.

Proverbs 16:9 reminds us that while we make plans, it is God who ultimately directs our steps. Let that truth guide you. Keep seeking Him, trusting Him, and obeying Him. Because a life lived in pursuit of God’s will is a life that echoes into eternity. It is never in vain. And it is never, ever wasted.
