Faith That Doesn't Flinch
"But even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all" - Philippians 2:17
When you study Philippians, you see that Paul knew that following Jesus wasn’t going to be easy. He wrote this letter while locked in a Roman prison, with the real possibility that his death was near. And yet, he talks about being poured out like a drink offering, not with dread, but with joy. How? Because he had a faith that didn’t flinch.
A lot of people follow Jesus until it costs them something. Until it gets uncomfortable. Until sacrifice is required. But Paul didn’t flinch at the thought of sacrifice. He leaned into it. He had already settled in his heart that Jesus was worth his whole life. Nothing else compared. His comfort, his safety, his plans, his status, even his very breath. Paul had already laid it all down.
What about you? What happens when following Jesus leads you into discomfort or struggle? Do you start to doubt if you’re on the right path? Or do you remember that Jesus never called us to an easy life, but to a surrendered one? This kind of faith isn’t built overnight. It’s built in the small moments of obedience, in the daily decision to keep showing up, to keep trusting, to keep saying yes.
The world is full of people whose faith folds under pressure. But what if you became someone whose faith stood tall? Someone who didn’t flinch when it got hard. Someone who stayed faithful when others quit. That kind of faith doesn’t just happen. It’s forged in the fire of real life. And it’s strengthened when you remember who you belong to and what He’s already done for you.
Jesus gave His everything for you. So give Him everything in return. Even when it costs you. Even when it’s uncomfortable. That’s the kind of faith that lasts. That’s the kind of faith that impacts the world. That’s the kind of faith that doesn’t flinch.

Its so true so true, will we stand strong as Paul did knowing he was going to die. How strong is our faith in the Lord. We need to check ourselves everyday because Satan is waiting for that chance to bring you down. And we will walk away from God cause it has gotten to hard to do stand for the Lord. Because something is going to cost you now you will bail out. When we came under fire in Iraq I never gave it a thought if I was going to die or not. I did what I had to do even though mortar fire was all around us. As Christians are we ready to pay the price for the Lord I know I'am. He lives.
Thank you for the reminder. Jesus is worth every sacrifice, every humiliation and every rejection. No matter how much I get triggered, I can’t quit no matter how much I want to. His will, be done on earth as it is in heaven.
If you throw a frog in a pot of boiling water it will jump out of the pot and run away but if you put it in cold water and slowly heat it up the frog will stay in the pot until it dies. That’s what this reminds me of this morning. For me the devil doesn’t just come straight at me. He knows I would be ready. Instead he wears me down slowly hoping to keep me there until the time is right where I am twisted up and forget all that has been given me. This is why praying every morning and night is so important. Reading His word. Doing what it says. Helping others. Seeking opportunities to serve Him. And also just as important for me seeking His truth over mine. I must be diligent to root out selfish delusions and blaming others. Otherwise I am easy prey. You see to believe how blessed are those who believe to see.
I lost my son in July 2010
nI was in a dark world for 11 years
nTill I got tired of being angry, lost, broken, isolated, and disobedient
nI surrendered everything to Our Lord Jesus Christ who saved me
nFaith and Trusting in Him is what gets me through the Birthdays like in November 25 which used to be the hardest day of my life and to be honest the tears still poured down and I am Greatful to our Lord Jesus Christ for saving me from that dark cave my son went to a retreat and gave his life to Our Lord Jesus Christ before he was murdered.
nThank you Pastor Ed for Daily Devotional's
