No Room in the Inn

“She gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” - Luke 2:7

When Jesus was born, the small town of Bethlehem was bursting with people. Travelers filled every room and every corner. The inn was full, the streets were crowded, and no one had space for a young couple who had come late in the night. In the middle of all that noise and movement, the Savior of the world entered quietly into a world too busy to notice.

That picture still reflects the human heart today. Many people want God in theory, but their lives are too crowded for Him in practice. Our schedules stay packed, our minds stay racing, and our priorities stay tangled. We ask for peace while clinging to hurry. We long for purpose while chasing distractions. And in doing so, we often miss the gentle ways God is trying to meet us. He is not absent, but He will not compete with chaos.

Making room for God rarely happens by accident. It requires intention. It means stopping long enough to listen, turning off the noise long enough to pray, and removing the clutter that keeps you from noticing His presence. The innkeeper in Bethlehem did not reject Jesus. He simply had no space left. In the same way, many people do not reject God with words. They crowd Him out with everything else.

Maybe your life feels full right now, but not fulfilled. Maybe you sense that God is near, yet you have not slowed down long enough to hear His voice. The good news is that He still comes close to those who make room.

You can choose to clear the space in your heart where He belongs. You do not need to impress Him with perfection. You only need to invite Him in. Do not let the noise of life keep you from the presence of the One who gives life. God is here. The question is whether you will make room.
