Wisdom In Finances
"If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?” - Luke 16:11
How we handle money reveals our heart and determines whether God can trust us with greater spiritual responsibilities.
Jesus often taught about money, not because He was obsessed with finances, but because He knew that our relationship with money reveals our relationship with God. Money is a tool that can be used for great good or great harm. It can become an idol that we worship, or it can become a resource we steward for God's glory.
The phrase "unrighteous wealth" does not mean money is evil. It means that earthly wealth is temporary and can be corrupting if we are not careful. The "true riches" Jesus refers to are spiritual treasures that last forever. God uses how we handle temporary resources to determine whether He can trust us with eternal ones.
When Stephanie and I were first married, we struggled financially. We had to learn to trust God with our limited resources and to be faithful with what little we had. We started tithing even when it seemed impossible, and we watched God provide in ways that defied logic. Those early lessons in financial faithfulness prepared us for greater responsibilities later in life and ministry.
Evaluate your financial habits. Are you being faithful with what God has given you? Are you generous with others? Are you saving wisely for the future? Take one concrete step today toward better financial stewardship.
Prayer:
Lord, I recognize that everything I have belongs to You. Help me be a faithful steward of the resources You have entrusted to me. Give me wisdom in my spending, generosity in my giving, and contentment with what I have. Use my financial faithfulness to prepare me for greater spiritual responsibilities. In Jesus' name, Amen.
