Do Not Grieve the Spirit

"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." – Ephesians 4:30

The Holy Spirit is not just a force. He is a person. He dwells within you, leading, guiding, convicting, and empowering you. But when you live outside of God’s Word, His will, and His way, you grieve Him. You hold back the power He wants to pour into your life.

Grieving the Holy Spirit happens when you seek to fulfill legitimate needs in illegitimate ways. Instead of walking in the Spirit, you give in to the cravings of the flesh. Instead of yielding the fruit of the Spirit, you chase after things that pull you away from God’s presence. It is impossible to walk in the power of God while still conforming to the ways of the world.

You cannot have it both ways. You cannot live for yourself and expect to see the supernatural power of the Spirit flowing through your life. You cannot walk in the fullness of joy while holding on to sin that separates you from God’s best. If you continue to ignore His conviction and choose your own desires over His, you silence His voice in your life.

But here is the good news. The Holy Spirit does not leave you. He is still with you, calling you back. He wants to move in your life. He wants to empower you to walk in freedom. He wants to radiate through you so that when people see you, they see His presence.

You are not called to live in your own strength. You are called to walk in the power of the Spirit. But that requires submission. It requires surrendering your desires, your plans, and your ways to Him. It means choosing to live in obedience, even when it is hard.

The presence of God is inside of you. The question is, are you allowing Him to lead? Are you walking in the Spirit, or are you grieving Him by choosing your own way? It is time to stop settling for less than what God has for you. Submit to Him. Let Him move. And watch what happens when His power is fully unleashed in your life.

Be careful what you pray for lol. I asked God to take away the issues in my character that were getting in the way of me being useful. I feel like He took that one very seriously lol. Once He grabs on He doesn’t ever let go. Thank you God for that too because if it were up to me I would have given up a long time ago. The hardest part for me following Gods direction is I didn’t believe that He wanted what was best for me. Kind of like a kid who doesn’t want to eat his broccoli. Or the lie we were all raised with that it’s illegal to have the interior lights on in the car while you are driving at night. All for someone else’s best interest instead of what I want. I am very happy to find and report that God actually does want what is best for me. And that what I want matters very much to Him. I just don’t know how to get what I want and the problem was that I used to think I did. He knows the way. I just have to trust Him and do what He says. That’s why everyone always talks about the goodness of God. Is it really too good to be true? Keep praying.
