The Burden of Preparation

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” - Romans 8:28

Life has a way of handing you seasons you wouldn’t choose. Pain, trials, heartache, and unexpected challenges can feel overwhelming. You may have wondered, “Why do I have to go through this?” But what if those experiences weren’t just about survival? What if they were about preparation?

God doesn’t waste your pain. Every trial you’ve endured, every tear you’ve shed, and every hardship you’ve faced has been part of a greater plan. These experiences have shaped you, strengthened you, and prepared you for the destiny God has for your life. The burdens you carry aren’t just reminders of what you’ve been through; they are indicators of the calling God has placed on your life.

Think of Joseph in the Bible. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and falsely imprisoned, he had every reason to believe his life was a series of meaningless struggles. But those very trials prepared him to step into his destiny as a leader who would save a nation from famine. Joseph’s burden was heavy, but it was necessary for the work God was calling him to do.

The same is true for you. The weight of your experiences, the lessons learned, the scars you carry, and the resilience you’ve gained all have a purpose. It’s preparing you to step into something greater. It may feel like a burden now, but it’s part of the process God is using to equip you for His plan.

As you reflect on your journey, don’t let the pain define you. Let it refine you. God is weaving all of it together in order to reveal His purpose for your life. The burden of preparation is not punishment. It’s a sign that God is working in you and through you.

You didn’t go through everything you’ve faced just to go through it. God is leading you toward your destiny. Trust Him with your story, and when the time comes to step into what He’s calling you to, carry the burden boldly, knowing it’s part of something extraordinary.
